All Saints grad closes out collegiate career as World Series champion
Joe Tany’s baseball mantra served him well, whether he was pitching at Bay City Southwest Little League or in the College World Series. The Bay City All Saints graduate helped Concordia University win it all, capturing the National Christian College Athletic Association World Series championship. He drew the starting assignment for Concordia in its World Series clash with Fort Lauderdale on May 23 in Kansas City, Missouri. Tany and the Cardinals capped it off by winning the Midwest Regional crown then hoisting the World Series trophy. Tany formed a potent 1-2 punch both at All Saints and Delta with teammate Grant Dittmer, who is currently competing with Lansing Community College in the NJCAA World Series.mlive.com
Concordia University Ann Arbor program receives $1.48M rural health care federal grant
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Concordia’s physician’s assistant studies program a $1.48 million grant over five years to support students who opt to participate in rural clinical experiences.
Cancer survivors come together as a community with Ann Arbor event
ANN ARBOR, MI – People who have survived cancer are coming together as a community in Ann Arbor. The Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor and the Roger Cancer Center is hosting an event at Concordia University’s Earhart Manor/Tent from 1 to 3:30 pm. A family tradition: Son of Jackson County superintendent joins education ranks
John Denney is the Hanover-Horton School District superintendent. Evan Denney, John and Stephanie’s son, graduates May 15 with a bachelor’s degree in education from Concordia University in Ann Arbor. Evan started school in the Columbia School District and graduated from Hanover-Horton High School in his dad’s district. “You’re not going to get a great learning environment when you’re in a lecture hall with 200 or 300 kids trying to learn how to be a good teacher,” he said. “He’s gonna make a hell of a teacher,” John said.mlive.com
LEGOs aren’t just for kids. They’re key in a Michigan college’s therapy program
ANN ARBOR, MI - LEGO is not just a thing for kids, said Juliane Chrestron, founding program director for Concordia University’s occupational therapy doctoral program. In the therapy world, adult patients love LEGO just the same as children, she said, as the blocks are a great way to build fine motor skills.
