BRIDGEPORT TWP, MI — Police in Bridgeport Township are investigating the recent thefts of catalytic converters. The first incident occurred about 7 a.m. on Feb. 13. An unknown person cut a catalytic converter off of a vehicle parked at a business in the 3700 block of Sherman Street. The second incident occurred just before 7 a.m. on March 5. Bridgeport Township police are asking anyone with information on the thefts to call them at 989-777-2800 or Saginaw County Central Dispatch at 989-797-4580.

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Monroe County deputy and a member of the Monroe Township Fire Department were both hospitalized Friday morning after their vehicles collided while responding to the same emergency. Authorities say that at about 7:48 a.m. Friday, the Monroe County sheriff deputy was traveling westbound on Dunbar Road while responding to an emergency call. Officials say the truck was driven by a member of the Monroe Township Fire Department, who was actually responding to the same emergency as the deputy. The deputy was conscious and alert following the crash, according to authorities. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any information is asked to contact police at 734-242-3500.
Butter Crust Bakery offering paczki curbside pickup for Fat Tuesday 2021
BIRDGEPORT, MI — Fat Tuesday, also known as “Paczki Day,” will look a little different at Saginaw County’s Butter Crust Bakery this year. The bakery, located at 6181 Dixie Highway in Bridgeport, plans to make several hundred dozen paczki in a variety of flavors as usual. By Friday, Feb. 12, the bakery had already taken orders for more than 100 dozen paczki, said owner Greg Sochocki. Available flavors include: custard, cream, chocolate cream, cream cheese, raspberry, cherry, blueberry, strawberry, apple, pineapple, prune, raisin and lemon. I don’t like any of them.”Butter Crust Bakery will begin selling paczki at about 11 a.m. on Monday and close the doors at about 5:30 p.m. that day.

Truck driver killed in I-75 crash near Rattalee Lake Road in Oakland County
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A box truck driver was killed in a crash Friday morning along northbound I-75 near Rattalee Lake Road in Springfield Township. Michigan State Police said a vehicle stopped on the roadway in the right lane and noticed a large box truck traveling slowly behind her with its hazard lights on. The large box truck rear ended her car. However, the large box truck, now stopped in the lane, was then rear ended by a smaller box truck. There was no one hurt in the large box truck, but he driver of the smaller box truck was pronounced dead on the scene, state police said.
Woman’s car hit by falling concrete from bridge on I-75 in Oakland County
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Clarkston woman was driving her normal route when a chunk of concrete from an overpass on Interstate 75 smashed into her windshield. Tracie Moonen was at Exit 93 on Dixie Highway at I-75 when the concrete hit her vehicle. Initially, she wondered if someone had thrown something, but the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office went out there and assessed what happened. Michigan State Police investigating death of 3-year-old in Oakland County
HOLLY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan State Police troopers have opened an investigation in Holly Township after a 3-year-old child was found dead Sunday. The incident happened at the Groveland Manor mobile home park off Dixie Highway. Police said the mother’s boyfriend has been taken into custody. No additional details have been released. More information is expected to be made public on Monday.

A Southeast Michigan off-road vehicle park is now open to the public featuring 113 acres of challenging trails with another 122 acres in the works. Holly Oaks ORV Park is located in parts of Groveland and Holly townships near Groveland Oaks County Park and Campground on Dixie Highway. Some of the challenges include 4x4 trails, single track trails for motorcycles, steep hills, water crossings, rock crawls and more. Current hours are:2-8 p.m. Sept. 2510 a.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 26-272-7 p.m. Oct. 2, Oct. 9, Oct. 16, Oct. 23 and Oct. 3010 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 3-4; Oct. 10-11; Oct. 17-18; Oct. 24-25; and Oct. 3110 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 1; Nov. 7-8; Nov. 14-15; Nov. 21-22; and Nov. 28-29Winter hours will be announced by mid-October. OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – The driver of a red Chevrolet SUV was taken into custody Thursday morning after colliding with an Oakland County Sheriff’s vehicle. According to authorities, the incident happened just after 5 a.m. when a deputy driving northbound on Dixie Highway was struck by an southbound SUV that appeared to be waiting to turn in to a gas station. Police said the SUV abruptly came into the deputy’s lane of travel, who evaded a head-on collision, but was still struck by the SUV. The patrol vehicle sustained major damage to the driver side front and was not drive-able and the Chevrolet SUV had damage to the driver side front panel. Police said the driver of the Chevrolet SUV was determined to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated and after an OWI blood draw was completed, the driver of the SUV was lodged at the Oakland County Jail.

MONROE, Mich. A police officer was rushed to a hospital in Toledo after being shot in Monroe Sunday night. Police said a Monroe Police Department officer saw the stolen vehicle and during a traffic stop on North Dixie Highway near I-75, two people got out of the vehicle and shot the police officer twice. He shot twice and I couldnt believe what I was seeing.
