Winter weather advisory issued for SE Michigan with snow, icy roads on the way
Accordingly, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 10:00 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday north of I-69, and until 9:00 a.m. south of I-69. Temperatures tonight will initially drop into the mid 20s (-4 degrees Celsius), and then rise to around 30 degrees (-1 degrees Celsius) by dawn Wednesday. Highs Wednesday should reach 40 degrees or a little above (5 degrees Celsius). Temperatures Friday should eventually reach around 40 degrees (4 degrees Celsius). What is a winter weather advisory?
Winter storm alerts issued for Northern Lower Michigan, 5-10 inches of snow expected
Parts of the Northern Lower Peninsula are under a Winter Storm Warning with a big snowmaker moving in this weekend. Gusty northeast winds are also expected to result in areas of blowing snow.โThe main stretch of the storm will be Saturday and Saturday night with 5-10 inches of snow possible in heaviest areas. A winter storm warning goes into effect later tonight for areas including Ludington, Baldwin, Reed City, Clare, Hart, Fremont, and Big Rapids. A winter storm watch is in effect for most of the Northern Lower Peninsula, from Alpena to Traverse City. Mostly snow is expected north and west of a Bay City to Grand Rapids line, where 4 to 6 inches of snow is possible (a Winter Storm Watch has been issued there).
Storm could bring 6 inches of snow to Northern Lower Michigan this weekend
Parts of the Northern Lower Peninsula will see their first big snow system this weekend of the season. The National Weather Service in Gaylord says, โA potentially impactful storm system across mainly northern lower Michigan this weekend with accumulating snow likely Saturday and Saturday night. In Metro Detroit, the same system will bring rain to the area with highs near 50 degrees. Paul Gross: Rain here in southeast Michigan changes to snow showers overnight Saturday night, with lows in the mid 30s (2 degrees Celsius). Snow showers Sunday morning should end, with cloudy skies for the remainder of the day.

The National Weather Service has issued the advisory, which takes effect at midnight until 9 a.m. on Saturday. Clear Saturday night, with lows in the low to mid 40s (5 to 7 degrees Celsius). Mostly sunny on Sunday, and a tad warmer with highs in the mid 60s (18 degrees Celsius). Clear Sunday night, with lows in the mid 40s (7 degrees Celsius).

Intense rain overnight causes flooding across Metro Detroit
ROYAL OAK, Mich. Metro Detroit saw its share of rain, fallen trees, power outages and flooding overnight. Residents in Royal Oak near 13 Mile Road and Main Street were reliving a nightmare -- all their basements flooded six years ago in a historic flooding and had to deal with flooding again Friday morning. Residents said they are considering legal action against the city due to the repeated flooding. Multiple cars were seen stranded in flooded streets. DETROIT Intense rains led to fallen trees, power outages and flooding overnight -- and the rain threat hasnt finished yet. Some drivers tried going through rising waters and their vehicle got stuck. Local 4s Tim Pamplin was reporting in Detroit, along the Dearborn border where he saw several cars submerged. There were many people helping others who had become stuck in the water.
Flooding damages homes, leaves cars stranded across Metro Detroit
ROYAL OAK, Mich. Metro Detroit saw its share of rain, fallen trees, power outages and flooding overnight. Its been a frustrating day in several Metro Detroit neighborhoods as flooding has caused a mess of trash on some streets and damaged homes. Neighbors on Lindon Street near Main Street and 13 Mile Road woke up Friday to find their garbage floating along the flooded street. Westbound I-94 at Cass Avenue in Detroit looked like a river and I-96 at Beech Daly Road in Redford was closed due to flooding. Some drivers in Dearborn, Melvindale and Royal Oak tried to power their way through flooded streets and ended up getting stuck.

Its been a frustrating day in several Metro Detroit neighborhoods as flooding has caused a mess of trash on some streets and damaged homes. Like many of her neighbors, Noelle Ehlers basement flooded again Friday morning, destroying everything. The Royal Oak mother is reliving a nightmare -- water came gushing into her basement six years ago during the historic flood. They said they would fix it, clearly its not been fixed.She said many neighbors are now considering legal action against the city.
Lincoln Park neighborhood copes with recurring flood damages
LINCOLN PARK, Mich. Metro Detroit saw its share of rain, fallen trees, power outages and floods overnight -- when the rain started coming in, Lincoln Park residents started to worry. The block at Cleveland Avenue and Howard Street flooded and residents are frustrated because they said its not the first time. When Jennifer Trippe let her dog out Sunday morning, she saw that the street outside had flooded and she immediately ran to check her basement. Lincoln Park city officials said at least a dozen homes experienced flooding and crews with the Department of Public Safety have been doing inspections Saturday. A tree in front of a vacant house came down Sunday, blocking a womans front door and driveway, trapping her car.
Metro Detroit weather: Hot Friday with an Air Quality Alert
DETROIT An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties Thursday. Air pollution levels will increase and, therefore, air quality will decrease. To keep air quality more acceptable, carpooling, taking the bus, refraining from using gas-powered equipment after noon and re-fueling after dusk are great options. Saturday will be a scorcher with blazing sunshine and afternoon temperatures near 90 degrees. With enough sunlight, daytime temps will be near 90 degrees.
SE Michigan under severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m.
DETROIT Southeastern Michigan is now under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Potential hazards include damaging wind gusts (up to 70 mph), tornadoes and large hail. Weather radio problem: Heres whats going on
If you have a weather radio, has it been sitting silently all day? Thats because there is a transmission phone line problem at the National Weather Services office in White Lake. Usually, the weather radio is the most reliable method, since cell networks have problems more frequently than the weather radio transmission source. In fact, I can only remember one other occasion during my long career here at Local 4 where the weather radio network was down during a storm event -- its highly reliable. Severe weather moves through parts of Michigan overnight
DETROIT Some areas of mid and southeast Michigan were hit by severe thunderstorms overnight. There have been some tree damage reports, including a large limb taking down a power line in Mount Morris, causing a power outage. Aside from that, the Local 4Casters say rest of the area appears to have escaped the worst. There were some reports of downed limbs in southeast Michigan, including as far south as Warren:This is a mess. Northern Michigan braces for heavy snow, strong winds, up to 8 foot waves
DETROIT โ A lake effect system will bring two days of snow, high winds and lakeshore flooding issues to Northern Michigan. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Friday for several counties including Leelanau, Antrim, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Missaukee. Additionally, Northern, Central and Eastern parts of the Upper Peninsula could see several inches of snow, as well, including Marquette, Alger, Luce and Schoolcraft counties.
