NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. – A father has been charged in western Michigan after his 16-year-old son allegedly set off explosives Monday at Newaygo High School. According to WOODTV, Saylor was charged Tuesday in a White Cloud courtroom. His 16-year-old son brought explosive materials to school, which detonated. Michigan State Police troopers found explosive materials inside Saylor’s home and that his son told investigators that he had made explosives with his father and detonated them several times. BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – A large barn fire killed multiple animals Thursday morning in Berrien County. According to authorities, the Chikaming Township Fire Department were called to the fire at about 5:30 a.m.Fire crews were able to save two horses, two goats and some of the chickens, but some chickens, a peacock and four llamas -- including three babies -- were killed by the fire. “By the time we were able to do anything, it was so totally involved there was absolutely no way that anybody could go inside to try to get the other animals out,” said fire chief Mike Davidson. “It had too much of a head start on us.”The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities believe no foul play is involved.

CHICAGO – A Michigan woman has been charged with murder in the deaths of her newborn twin sons more than 17 years ago, police said Saturday. Antoinette Briley, 41, of Holland, Michigan, was charged Friday with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of her sons. Cook County detectives eventually identified Briley as the victims’ potential birth mother. Detectives traveled to Holland, Michigan, and obtained a discarded cigarette containing Briley’s DNA, which was matched to the DNA from the victims. Police learned Briley was in Cook County and took her into custody after a traffic stop in suburban Oak Lawn.
