MSU student killed in hit-and-run while home for holiday break
OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI – A Michigan State University student home for holiday break was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash early New Year’s Day, FOX 2 Detroit reports. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of the vehicle involved in the deadly collision. The crash happened around 5:49 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, on Rochester Road south of Whims Lane in Oakland Township, according to a news release. Benjamin Kable, 22, of Shelby Township, was walking in the southbound lane of Rochester Road when he was struck by a southbound vehicle, police said. “We need the public’s help finding this person.”Kable was a senior at MSU studying electrical engineering, FOX 2 reports.

Joe Mindelli, 78, was last seen in the area of Rochester Road and Casey Road in Dryden Township, according to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone wishing to volunteer to search for Mindelli can meet at the Dryden Wesleyan church at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, the Dryden Township Fire Department stated in a Tuesday, July 20 Facebook post. Mindelli is 5-foot-8 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.

Police believe Dombrowski left his home in Rochester Hills Monday night and traveled southbound on Rochester Road in a black Ford Crown Victoria. Security footage obtained during the investigation shows a white 2014-2018 Jeep Cherokee following the victim into the gas station lot. “That altercation escalates into a shooting where multiple rounds were fired by an occupant of the white Jeep Cherokee. Person of interest in custody after man found stabbed to death outside Belle Tire in Troy
TROY, Mich. – Police are investigating after a man was found stabbed to death outside a Belle Tire in Troy. Police were called to the parking lot of a Belle Tire at 4966 Rochester Road in Troy at around 7 a.m. on Monday. Employees arriving for work found the man lying next to the front entrance of the building. Police said it is unknown how long he was outside, but his body was found covered in snow. A knife was found in the parking lot but it’s unclear if that is the knife that was used in the stabbing, police said.

ADDISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. Oakland County officials said a 61-year-old Leonard woman was found dead in a home in the 1800 block of Rochester Road in Addison Township. Officials said a neighbor reported receiving a call from the womans husband needing medical attention for himself. Addison Township Fire Department and county deputies responded to the home and found the woman with obvious signs of decomposition. The womans husband was transported to a hospital due to insect infestation. Officials said the Oakland County Animal Control was requested to remove nine cats, one dog and a bird from the residence.
Maple Road to close for I-75 bridge work Friday
TROY, Mich. Maple Road under I-75 will be closed Friday night for bridge work. Maple Road will be closed in both directions beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and is expected to reopen by 9 a.m. Saturday as crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) work on the bridge above. Eastbound traffic will be rerouted to Stephenson Highway, Big Beaver and John R. roads. Westbound Maple Road traffic will be directed to John R., Big Beaver and Rochester roads. MDOT says I-75 traffic should not be impacted.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday and end by 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. I-75 will not be affected by the closure, MDOT officials said. Eastbound drivers will be detoured north on Stephenson Highway, to Rochester Road, to Big Beaver Road, to John R Road and back to Maple Road, according to MDOT. Westbound drivers will be detoured north on John R Road, to Big Beaver Road, to Rochester Road, to Stephenson Highway and back to Maple Road, officials said.

DETROIT - Southbound Rochester Road under I-75 will be closed for ongoing bridge work from 7 to 11:59 p.m. Monday. During the closure, southbound traffic can use westbound Big Beaver to southbound Livernois, then east on Maple Road back to southbound Rochester Road. Beginning at 9 p.m. and ending by 11:59 p.m. Monday, northbound Rochester Road will be closed under I-75. For this closure, drivers should use westbound Maple Road to northbound Livernois, then eastbound Big Beaver Road back to northbound Rochester. The Michigan Department of Transportation said I-75 traffic will not be impacted by this work.

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced crews will intermittently close northbound I-75 for 15-minute periods during the overnight hours on Thursday, Aug. 15. Northbound I-75 will have intermittent 15-minute full closures at Long Lake Road overnight on Thursday, Aug. 15. The intermittent closures will occur at Long Lake Road for setting new bridge beams, MDOT said. The intermittent northbound closures will begin at 10 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. the following morning. Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, both directions of Rochester Road will be closed under I-75 for the demolition of the northbound I-75 bridge over Rochester Road.
