ANN ARBOR, MI – An Ann Arbor home sustained significant damage early Thursday when a fire broke out in the attic. Fire crews were called at 1:32 a.m. Sept. 1, to a home in the 2900 block of Dexter Avenue ,west of Maple Street, for a report of a structure fire called in by a neighbor, according to the Ann Arbor Fire Department. Fire crews were able to save a significant amount of contents in the home, but not before the fire caused major fire and water damage to the structure, officials said. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said, adding it does not appear to be suspicious. The Scio Township Fire Department, Ann Arbor Township Fire Department, Pittsfield township Fire Department, Huron Valley Ambulance and Ann Arbor Police Department assisted at the scene and provided emergency coverage while crews were on scene.

Large dogs escape yard, attack man taking walk on Detroit’s west side
DETROIT – A 62-year-old man was mauled by four large dogs Friday morning as he was taking a walk on Detroit’s west side. Police said it happened at about 9:30 a.m. on Fullerton Avenue, between Linwood Street and Dexter Avenue, when four large dogs left their yard and began biting the victim on his legs, shoulder and ear. A neighbor was able to distract the dogs and get them away from the man. The dogs have been taken away by Detroit Animal Control. The man was rushed to a hospital where he was listed in temporary serious condition.

DETROIT – Family members of 32-year-old Janea Fletcher, a mother of seven, are heartbroken after finding out she was shot and killed early Friday morning. “I don’t know what to say, what to do,” Lightfood said. I don’t know. “She has seven kids, like I really don’t know what to do. “Don’t nobody like to hear about death, especially when a mother of seven is involved,” Jones said.

Man struck by stray bullet at Detroit apartment complex
DETROIT – A 27-year-old man was shot Sunday at an apartment complex near the intersection of Ewald Circle and Dexter Avenue, just east of Livernois Avenue. According to authorities, the victim was standing in the hallway of an apartment complex at about 12:45 a.m. when he heard multiple gunshots. When he realized he had been shot, he called for a ride and was transported to a hospital, where he is expected to survive. Detroit man charged with first-degree murder after Coney Island shooting killed 3, injured 1
DETROIT – A 25-year-old man has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder after allegedly shooting four men inside a Detroit restaurant on Sunday, killing three of them. Mickey Dane Douglas, of Detroit, has also been charged with assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm and five counts of felony firearm. The shooting took place around 11 p.m. on Sunday at A Eagles Coney Island on Dexter Avenue in Detroit. A 28-year-old Detroit man was also shot and injured on Sunday night. Police say they arrived on the scene to find one of the victims’ lifeless body in the parking lot.

2 children critically hurt in collision on Detroit’s west side, police seek man, woman who fled on foot
DETROIT – A 3-vehicle-collision on Detroit’s west side sent two children to the hospital in critical condition Sunday. Police aren’t sure who is responsible yet, but they are looking for a man and woman who were driving a white Chevrolet Corvette who fled from the scene on foot. Police said a red Dodge had a mother, father and their two children inside. The father sustained minor injuries, but the mother and two children were rushed to hospital. The mother is expected to be OK.A 54-year-old man was the only occupant of the third vehicle.

DETROIT - A 50-year-old man was carjacked and shot Friday morning at a Clark gas station on Dexter Avenue near Collingwood Street, according to Detroit police. The victim was shot after buying something from inside the gas station and the gunmen drove off in his black 1999 Isuzu truck. No arrests have been made. The victim is in serious condition. DETROIT - The Detroit Police Department SWAT Team was on the move Friday night, checking a house near Dexter Avenue and Davison Street, looking for a man charged in connection with the fatal beating of a Berkley man. Police sources said some of Lawrence James Davis' family members live in a duplex there. Davis, 23, is charged with open murder in connection with the beating death of Tyler Jordan Wingate, 24. Lawrence James DavisPolice said Davis and Wingate were involved in a crash after 1 a.m. Monday on Livernois Avenue near West Davison Street. Officers said they found Wingate lying on the ground of the gas station parking lot in the 13500 block of Livernois Avenue.
