Leonard’s friend and former colleague, Robert Wilkie, owns R.J.’s heavenly delights, which recently went mobile with its food truck. Food Truck Tuesday featured live music, 10 food trucks and hot weather in Horace Blackman Park. The couple always gets Tiki Sam’s, which is now one of their favorites after following the restaurant on Facebook a year ago. This was the second Food Truck Tuesday attended by the coworkers, who like to pick a dish to share. A different mix of food trucks is planned for each event.

JACKSON, MI -- Jackson officials are feeling bullish about having some “normal” events this summer. After a year of canceling summer programming that attracted people downtown, like Food Truck Tuesdays and Cruise In nights, because of the coronavirus pandemic, things are starting to look up, the city’s Downtown Development Authority officials said. Events will follow whatever restrictions or requirements are in place at the time, as set by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. But with declining cases and increasing vaccinations, Mays said the DDA is optimistic events can happen in some form, even if it means more street closures to ensure adequate spacing, or requesting drivers at the classic car events park further away. “We’re looking forward to helping everyone feel like the world is not such a gloomy place,” Mays said.

DETROIT – A Detroit entrepreneur’s dreams of growing his business disappeared on Wednesday morning. Someone stole his new food trailer. Now Jaleel Dodson, the owner of Jay’s Signature Food, is struggling to move forward. “It started out with hot wings and took off from there. Everybody wanted the hot wings,” Dodson said.
The Circ Bar reopens in downtown Ann Arbor with new outdoor patio
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – After closing in March, The Circ Bar in downtown Ann Arbor is officially reopening this weekend with a new outdoor space and mural. “What we realized was that we needed a lot more outdoor space that previously we just didn’t have,” Ahn said. Alternative indie band Models + Architects will perform on Friday, while The Circ Bar regular Camila Ballario will perform on Saturday. The patio space and roof-deck bar will open from 4-11 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays. The rest of The Circ Bar, including its indoor spaces and kitchen, will remain closed.
Bao Boys food truck opens in Ann Arbor, brings LA inspired flavors
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Bringing Los Angeles-inspired flavors to Ann Arbor, LA natives Steven Choi and Brian Kim opened up the Bao Boys food truck in the yard of York on July 1. Choi and Kim dont have backgrounds in the food industry but they both love food, Bao Boys co-owner Steven Choi said. The current bao menu at Bao Boys was an amalgamation of different flavors inspired by different cuisines the friends experienced in LA. Choi said that eaters should check for updated hours and times on the Bao Boys Instagram account where the food truck will make announcements. The food truck naturally acts as a barrier to separate the food-truck owners from their customers and that customers cant come in the food truck.

A perfect way to do that is to feast at a food truck rally! The Michigan MEGA Food Truck Rally is happening this Saturday, July 4th at Canterbury Village in Orion Township. Unlike last year, there will be no tables or chairs, guests are expected to walk around the park at a safe distance, going from food stand to food stand. Currently, there are 25 food trucks expected to be in attendance, and they may add a few more before the event this Saturday. Galindo’s “A Taste of Mexico” food truck is returning for its second year at the rally.

This unique food truck has been drawing people to it for years with its colorful street art on the surrounding fences, planters full of herbs and vegetables, and cherry red umbrellas covering picnic tables. Brothers Ahmed and Mike opened the food truck as a way to serve their customers at the gas station their family owns next door.
