HUDSONVILLE, MI -- A 17-year-old driver has been charged for an August fatal crash near Hudsonville that police say involved reckless driving. The Wyoming teen, who was not named because he’s charged as a juvenile, faces charges of reckless driving causing death, two counts of reckless driving causing serious impairment and operating without a license. Police allege the teen disregarded a stop sign at 22nd Avenue and Jackson Street. Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said the teen was driving a Jeep Compass occupied by three other teen passengers and a 22-month-old. The Jeep was going west on Jackson Street about 12:30 p.m. Aug. 17 when the crash happened.

Virtual running event held in remembrance of Grosse Pointe Park teen
GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. – A four mile run in honor of a Grosse Pointe Park teen who was killed last year is being held virtually because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Finn It Four Miler is raising money for charities that were close to Finn Huston’s heart. Last year, the transgender teen was riding his bike when he was hit and killed. The Grosse Point Park teen was riding his bike home after work when he was hit by a car. The image is now the symbol of the Finn It 4 Miler which will be held on Oct. 10.

WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 16-year-old girl is dead after jumping off of a pontoon boat while it was still moving Monday on Mandon Lake in White Lake Township, police said. Police said the teen was on her friend’s boat when she jumped off the back while it was still moving. Family members have identified her as Nicole Shoup. Although police believe Shoup jumped off the boat, family members say there is no way she would have done that while the boat was moving. Judge: Michigan teen jailed over homework released from probation
PONTIAC, Mich. A suburban Detroit judge who sent a 15-year-old girl to a juvenile detention facility for not doing her homework released the teen from probation on Tuesday, after an appeals court ordered her release. The girl was placed on probation in April in a case involving allegations of assault and theft, and had been in Oakland Countys Childrens Village since May for violating that probation, according to ProPublica. Brennan said a Michigan Court of Appeals decision July 31 ordering Graces release from Childrens Village effectively tied the lower courts hands. Among the requirements of her probation, Grace was expected to complete her schoolwork. Brennan initially cited a failure to submit to any schoolwork and getting up for school for her decision to place the teen in juvenile detention.
