Manโs body found outside medical center in Macomb Township
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A manโs body was found Tuesday morning outside the Ascension St. John Hospital Health Center at 23 Mile and Romeo Plank roads in Macomb Township. The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office said this death is โsuspicious in nature.โNo other information is available at this time.
Video shows residents being rescued from burning apartment in Mount Clemens
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. โ Macomb County Sheriffโs Office deputies rushed into the River North Village Apartment in Mount Clemens overnight Sunday to help get people out. As soon as they arrived, people were jumping from windows as fire and heavy smoke covered everything. Eight people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and dozens of people were displaced by the fire. MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. โ Some tenants at the River North Village Apartments in Mount Clemens jumped from their balconies to escape a massive fire with heavy smoke and flames that crews worked for hours to put out overnight Sunday, a witness told Local 4 News. According to another witness, others jumped from a window to escape the fire at the apartment building on North River Road. Local 4 News reached out to the American Red Cross and Macomb County Sheriffโs Office to check on whether anyone was hurt or displaced. Police seek 2 in connection with New Haven home invasion

26-year-old woman killed when pickup slides off icy road, strikes tree in Macomb County
BRUCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 26-year-old woman was killed when her pickup truck slid off an icy road and struck a tree in Macomb County, officials said. The crash happened around 6 a.m. Monday in the area of 34 Mile and Fisher roads in Bruce Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office. Guilot was heading east on 34 Mile Road, where conditions are very icy, according to deputies. The pickup truck left the roadway and crashed into a tree on the south side of the road, police said. Macomb County deputies are investigating the crash.

Bicyclist fatally struck in hit-and-run at Romeo Plank, 27 Mile roads
RAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning at 27 Mile and Romeo Plank roads in Ray Township. The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office said the vehicle did not stop after hitting the pedestrian. Deputies first responded to the area about 7:17 a.m., the Sheriffโs Office said. The unidentified man, who police believe to be about 50 years old, was found laying in the lawn of a residence near the intersection. Michigan AG to review 2018 case of Shelby Township police killing of 25-year-old man
A Shelby Township police officer is on leave after a deadly shooting at an apartment complex. On Nov. 3, 2018 a Shelby Township police officer shot and killed 25-year-old Kanwarbir Malhi, who was allegedly armed and acting aggressively toward police. Officials say Malhi, of Shelby Township, had stolen a car from his parents, who called police to report the theft. Protesters in Portland have already been facing off with federal agents over the last few days, and tensions are rising in Chicago. AdThe White House released on Wednesday that federal agents are expected to be sent to Detroit over the next three weeks.
County sheriff: White Warren police officer did not violate laws during arrest of Black Amazon driver
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. โ The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office determined that a Warren police officer did not violate any laws or policies during their arrest of an Amazon delivery driver in June. Police say the White officer approached the Black Amazon driver and requested the driverโs license 10 times, which the driver did not comply with. The Warren officer involved was placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation led by the county sheriffโs office. The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office announced Monday that the Warren police officer did not violate any Michigan criminal laws, nor did they violate any of the city police departmentโs policies. Phone scammer posing as member of Macomb County Sheriffโs Office requests money in lieu of arrest
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office is warning residents of a phone scammer targeting the area. Officials say there have been multiple recent reports of a caller posing as a member of the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office requesting money from residents in lieu of being arrested. The sheriffโs office says the phone calls are not legitimate and warns residents from giving away personal information or meeting up with the caller. Anyone who receives a scam call and is concerned is encouraged to visit the sheriffโs office to verify any arrest warrants in their name. Officials say the Macomb County Detective Bureau is investigating the scam phone calls.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. โ During the past week the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office has taken two reports where citizens have been scammed out of thousands of dollars. Both citizens reported that they received telephone calls from an individual claiming to work for the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office. On Feb. 7, a 33-year-old man from Macomb Township received a call from a male who indicated he was calling from the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office. The caller was also able to ghost the Sheriffโs Office telephone number, meaning that the phone number displayed as a Sheriffโs Office phone number. The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office will not call any member of the public and ask for money or gift cards in lieu of arrest.
Man hits pedestrian with pickup truck in Macomb Township, flees scene
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Authorities in Macomb Township are looking for a man who hit a pedestrian and fled the scene Monday. According to the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office, a person was crossing the road in the area of 23 Mile and North Avenue at about 7 p.m. when they were hit by a pickup truck. The pedestrian was hit by an older model, single cab Dodge Ram. An American flag and yellow โdonโt tread on meโ flag were flying from the back of the truck bed. The driver is described as a white man with an average build, authorities said.
Sheriffโs Office identifies man shot, killed by Shelby Township police officer
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office has released the identity of a man who was shot and killed Saturday morning by a Shelby Township police officer. The man has been identified as 25-year-old Kanwarbir Malhi, of Shelby Township. The Sheriff's Office said in statement that Malhi was an Asian/Indian man. Shelby Township police say as a result of the man's noncompliance, an officer fired his weapon to stop the man's "aggressive action." AdThe investigation has been turned over to the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office, and the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.
