Fire on Detroit’s east side kills 1, injures 4

DETROIT – A fire at a group home on Detroit’s east side killed one man and injured four others Friday morning. It happened on Burns Avenue, near I-94 and Van Dyke Avenue. The group home was significantly damaged and the building might be a total loss. The other four men were rushed to a hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. AdWindows blown out due to the intense heat with damages extending around to the front and porch of the home.

Detroit apartment fire that injured 3 likely caused by stoves used for heat

DETROIT – Investigators with the Detroit Fire Department believe residents’ stoves that were being used for heat could be to blame for an apartment fire on Detroit’s east side. Fire damages apartment building on Detroit’s east side

DETROIT – A fire damaged a small apartment building on Detroit’s east side Saturday night. The fire broke out on Pelkey Street, near Gratiot Avenue and Schoenherr Street. According to authorities, all residents -- children, adults and a dog -- made it out safely. The cause of the fire is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.

Fire at apartment on Detroit’s east side hospitalizes multiple senior citizens

DETROIT – Eight senior citizens were sent to the hospital, three in critical condition due to a fire Sunday at the 16-story Parkview Place Apartment building. Thankfully, he was in the right place at the right time. He’s an elder so I do really hope he’s OK,” Lamont said. While two others are in critical condition for smoke inhalation, five more residents were taken in for treatment as a precautionary measure. Detroit firefighters pull woman, young boy from house fire on Clayburn Street

DETROIT – Detroit firefighters pulled a 20-year-old woman and a young boy from a burning home Tuesday afternoon in the 7400 block of Clayburn Street. The woman and child, who is believed to be either 4 or 5 years old, suffered burns and smoke inhalation. The woman was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital with burns over 50 percent of her body and suffering from smoke inhalation. The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital with burns, also suffering from smoke inhalation. According to the Detroit Fire Department, firefighters pulled them from the house right when they arrived about noon Tuesday.

Medical examiner: 2 found dead in Detroit house fire suffered gunshot wounds

DETROIT An unfolding investigation of a Detroit house fire that occurred Monday has revealed that the bodies of two individuals found in fire debris actually died from gunshot wounds. They got inside the building, and in doing their search, they found two victims in the front room, Detroit fire Capt. Investigators did not initially believe the cause of the fire was suspicious in nature and that the individuals died from the fire. However, a medical examiner determined Wednesday that the two burned individuals actually died from gunshot wounds, not the fire. Detroit police are now investigating the incident as a homicide, and the cause of the fire as suspicious, officials said.

9-year-old girl killed in house fire on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT – A 9-year-old girl died early Tuesday morning in a house fire on Detroit’s west side. READ: 9-year-old girl dies in fire on Detroit’s west side; siblings rescuedFlames were seen shooting out of the front of the building at around 3 a.m. A mother and father were inside and when they discovered the fire they worked to get the children out safely. The father went to the back of the house and broke windows with his bare hands. “The fire was basically confined to the living room and then to the little dining room off the side. Of course there is heavy smoke damage throughout the entire house,” Fornell said.

DETROIT Police took two men in for questioning Thursday after the bodies of three men and an unidentified pet were found in a burned house on Detroits east side. 3 bodies found inside Detroit home after explosion, 2 taken into custody

DETROIT Police are questioning two men about a house fire early Wednesday morning on Detroits east side. Neighbors were startled out of their sleep to the sounds of a house explosion. Police say the suspects were arrested on unrelated warrants but theyre still being questioned. Neighbors claim to have heard gunshots before the explosion and saw a person fleeing the scene after the explosion. Police said the next step is identifying the bodies and finding out how they died before they can potentially press charges on the men taken into custody.
