According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, a gunman has barricaded himself inside a home in the 5600 block of Meadow Drive as of 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Officials say the situation began as a domestic altercation between the gunman and his parents. Family members were safely evacuated from the home Wednesday morning, but the gunman refused to come out and remained inside the home. The gunman is still barricaded inside the home.

Authorities blocked off the surrounding area while hostage negotiation and special response teams tried talking the man out of the home. The situation has resolved as of 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, officials say. The four individuals inside the home have been taken into custody for questioning, police said. Detroit police say at about 12:40 a.m. officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area of Schoenherr and Pfent streets. Upon arriving, officers discovered several shell casings in front of the home and on the front porch of the home in question. Officials say that during their investigation, police received another call about a 22-year-old man who was dropped off at a hospital and died soon after. Police are investigating whether or not the barricaded situation is connected to the 22-year-old man who was dropped off at the hospital around the same time.

Barricaded gunman peacefully exits Novi mobile home, police say
NOVI, Mich. A barricaded gunman situation has come to a peaceful resolution on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. Officials say beginning at about 5 a.m. a 44-year-old man barricaded himself inside a Country Cousin mobile home after his mother called police saying she wanted to get him into rehab. Police knocked on the door of the home off Haggerty Road near Twelve Mile Road when they heard a shot fired inside. By about 1:40 p.m. Novi police were able to talk the man into exiting the home. Police say no one was injured during the incident.
