A fake letter carrier in Ann Arbor fled into a wooded, wetland area after officers confronted him about using a USPS collection box key to steal dozens of pieces of mail that contained checks, police said.
Downtown Ann Arbor streets closing Thursday to make more space for businesses, pedestrians
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ Starting Thursday, several streets in downtown Ann Arbor will close to cars allowing for more outdoor dining and shopping during the spring and summer. The Downtown Ann Arbor Pedestrian Mall will provide additional space facilitating safer physical distancing practices as community members visit businesses and restaurants. The closures will run from Thursday, April 1 to August 30. This year, some streets will be closed every day of the week while other closures will only take place from 4 p.m. on Thursdays to 6 a.m. on Mondays. U-M students, parents rally for in-person graduation
Parents and students gathered in Ann Arbor Saturday to preserve a big milestone at the University of Michigan. Water main break leaves dozens without power in Downtown Detroit
DETROIT โ A combination of heat and old infrastructure caused a Downtown Detroit road to buckle and a water main to break Saturday night. The water flooded the basement of the David Stott Building on Griswold Street, near Campus Martius, leaving dozens without power. It happened on Independence Day at about 10:30 p.m. A water main burst along Griswold Street between Michigan Avenue and State Street, flooding the intersection. Bedrock released the following statement:The Stott building is currently experiencing a power outage resulting from a water main break late Saturday evening. We are currently evaluating the extent of the damage and have reached out to all building residents as we assess necessary repairs.
Michigan vs. Michigan State football parking: Golf course closed, other options available
The University of Michigan announced golf course parking will not be available Saturday for the Michigan vs. Michigan State football rivalry. The State Street, Main Street and driving range entrances to the golf course will be closed, the university announced. Kerrytown's Kindlefest, Main Street's Midnight Madness and State Street's Moonlight Madness will welcome in the holiday season through the wee hours of the night.
