Mechanic St. The rock singer from Ann Arbor was a finalist on Season 10 of NBC’s “The Voice” in 2016 and has a degree from the University of Michigan in jazz guitar and bass. The battle rounds on “The Voice” are underway and one singer from Detroit is ready to give it her all and sing to get through the next round, Zania Alake. To prep, she will be doing vocal warm-ups and then vocal rest, a process she learned during the auditions. After her blind audition, she joined Team Legend, having always been a fan of his. Alake is no stranger to competitions, having been in Local 4′s Super Singer competition back in 2015, but she says she is happy to finally be able to represent Detroit on the national stage. Speaking of the pandemic, Swifty McVay says this time has given him the space to better learn other aspects of music production, specifically the technological side of it. This is a big change for Swifty McVay, who is used to mainly writing. She told Tati that her and Swifty McVay met while she was completing her second studio album. Her producer of the album felt that “Got Next” needed some extra flavor and got the idea of contacting Swifty McVay, who is beloved in the Detroit music scene.

Rio Souma, a 28-year-old singer and songwriter from Detroit who doubles as an automotive assembly plant worker for FCA, performed a cover of the Smokey Robinson classic, “Cruisin,” winning over three judges almost immediately, including John Legend. Koryn Hawthorne is a two time Grammy Award-nominated Christian and gospel singer who rose to fame after finding success on The Voice. She auditioned in 2015, and ended up competing for Pharrell Williams' team. She was 16 when she auditioned on The Voice, and said that she is grateful she got to experience all of this at a young age. She also had some advice for future contestants on The Voice. “Please suck in all the info you can because this is literally only the beginning,” she said.

A Michigan woman lit up the stage on "The Voice" this week, landing on a team for the next round. Elise Azkoul of Grand Rapids took part in blind auditions, delivering an amazing cover of Lady Gaga's "Million Reasons." "Voice" coach Gwen Stefani was the only one to turn her chair, saying, "I love your style. I love your tone." Watch her performance below:

The winner of season 7 of "The Voice discovered he was being targeted in a scam offering celebrities a trip to Dubai after watching Inside Edition. [I thought,] 'Oh my god, I am being taken by the same people,' Craig Wayne Boyd told Inside Edition. Former Baywatch beauties Donna D'Errico and Krista Allen told Inside Edition they were each offered a large sum of money to speak at an event in Dubai. Boyd showed Inside Edition the contract that he had signed just two hours before our report aired. Inside Edition, thank you guys so much, he said.
