ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man was brought back to life Friday morning by an Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy after he had overdosed on heroin. The man and his driver were both unconscious behind the wheel of a moving pickup truck. The deputy was dispatched to the scene near the border of Auburn Hills and Orion Township. With the clock ticking, he used two shots of Narcan to slowly bring the man back to life. As the man regained consciousness, he was disoriented and began communicating with the first responders.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man and a woman from Pontiac were arrested overnight after a deputy found them inside a car containing drugs and cash, officials said. A 19-year-old Pontiac woman sitting in the front passenger seat admitted to having a large amount of suspected narcotics in her clothing, according to the deputy. She turned the suspected narcotics over and was taken into custody without incident, authorities said. AdA K-9 unit arrived and conducted a search, alerting deputies to the center console and front seat areas of the vehicle, according to officials. Deputies said they found narcotic paraphernalia, a smaller sum of cash and suspected narcotics in the center console.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Orion Township man was arrested for beating his pregnant girlfriend after a neighbor saw the woman trying to escape through a window of the mobile home, only to be pulled back in, according to police. A neighbor called police and told them a woman had made several attempts to exit the mobile home, only to be pulled back inside, deputies said. When officials went to the front door, they were met by a woman, and a man was in the living room, according to authorities. AdThe 22-year-old Orion Township man told deputies he and his pregnant girlfriend, an 18-year-old Orion Township woman who also lived at the home, got into an argument about money, according to authorities. Police said the man told them he told his girlfriend to leave, but when she tried to do so he stopped her because she doesn’t have anywhere else to go.

“I would say this is wrong,” said Michigan Rep. John Reilly. The state of Michigan is currently in vaccination phase 1-B, which began on Jan. 11. “They said 80 percent of their people are over 75 and they have not been able to get the vaccine,” Reilly said. “Oakland County has offered to administer the COVID vaccine to the county’s state representatives, seniors and commissioners because continuity of government is a vital public interest during the pandemic,” Mullan’s statement reads. Local health departments have the option to prioritize the groups within the guidance they feel are most at risk and at highest need of vaccination.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 78-year-old Orion Township woman was scammed out of more than $29,000, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said a scammer called the woman claiming to be an Amazon employee to verify that she purchased $8,000 worth of Apple products. Deputies said after the purchase was disputed, the caller transferred the woman to someone claiming to be a member of the Michigan State Police to make a report. The fake MSP trooper told the woman that she needed to provide all of her banking information to file the report. “Scammers continue to evolve their tactics and try to find ways to outsmart citizens,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Rochester Community Schools coach is in police custody for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Orion Township. According to the Oakland County Office, deputies responded on Sunday night to a home where they found the girlfriend semi-conscious and covered in blood. Rochester Community Schools district said the Van Hoosen Middle School coach was fired after district officials learned of the arrest. ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The body of an Orion Township woman was left in her bedroom for more than three weeks until authorities issued a welfare check Sunday. According to authorities, at about 11:30 a.m. Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home on Conklin Road for a welfare check after someone believed there was a dead body within the home. Deputies said Animal Control was called to the scene for the removal of two dogs that were preventing Deputies from entering the home. When deputies made entry into the home, they said they found a deceased woman in an upstairs bedroom and a deceased dog in the basement. Authorities said the daughter told the deputies she was overwhelmed and was not emotionally prepared to deal with the death.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 24-year-old man was taken into police custody Friday morning after biting an Oakland County deputy. According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to Johnny Black’s Public House, located on Baldwin Road in Orion Township, just before 1 a.m. due to an intoxicated person. Police said the deputies provided several requests to back away while they continued their investigation, but the man did not comply. Police said a deputy attempted to escort the man away from the investigation when he pushed the deputy and while attempted to secure the man in handcuffs, the “highly intoxicated” man bit the deputy on his arm, drawing blood. The 24-year-old man was taken into custody and lodged at the Oakland County Jail, pending the issuance of a criminal charge.
