Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear and City of Detroit officials will ceremoniously pass the flag as the event transitions from its home since 1992 on Belle Isle Park back to the Streets of Downtown Detroit beginning in 2023.
Detroit Grand Prix to honor history on Belle Isle before return to downtown
For the 22nd and final Grand Prix weekend on Belle Isle before its return to Downtown Detroit next year, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will recognize the history and heritage of the event’s unique island home leading up to and during the June 3-5 race weekend.

DETROIT – The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear is shifting back to its one-weekend format for 2021. AdWe are excited to bring the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear back to Belle Isle in 2021 and return to a traditional one-weekend format June 11 through the 13, featuring five great races with three incredible racing series. All three series will host races on June 12, with the first Indy Lights racing action on Belle Isle since 2012. Tickets for the Grand Prix are expected to go on sale within the next few weeks. The 29-year-old Marshall was scheduled to fight Hannah Rankin on Saturday in Peterborough for the vacant WBO world middleweight title. ___Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has tested positive for the coronavirus. ___The Canadian round of figure skating’s Grand Prix has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. The five-round Grand Prix season is due to begin with Skate America in Las Vegas from Oct. 23-25 without spectators.

DETROIT – The Detroit Grand Prix will return to Belle Isle for two weekends of racing in 2021. The two IndyCar races will be shown on NBC network TV. The 2020 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The race on Belle Isle had been scheduled for the weekend of May 29-31. Belle Isle battles to recover from flooding, coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
DETROIT – Belle Isle is working to recover from two problems that struck this fall: flooding from excessive rain and the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. To many, Belle Isle is one of the most beautiful places in Detroit“Belle Isle is a jewel,” frequent visitor Jesse Brown said. Excessive Flooding has caused parts of Belle Isle to close. “When the pandemic hit, we stopped a lot of projects, and that was one of them that stopped,” Jacob Brown said. The Grand Prix Organization also paid for the Belle Isle fountain to turn on again this summer.

The trio has swept the first three Grand Prix events after Anna Shcherbakova took gold at Skate America and Alexandra Trusova won Skate Canada. Russian Alexander Samarin took second, a full 32 points behind Chen on 265.10, and France's Kevin Aymoz claimed his first Grand Prix medal with bronze on 254.64. A strong free skate lifted them slightly above fellow Russians Daria Pavliuchenko and Denis Khodykin on 206.56.
