Man in custody after 25-year-old stabbed to death in Monroe County
FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Police are investigating after a 25-year-old Monroe man was stabbed to death. Police said there was another 25-year-old man in the hotel lobby who was taken into custody. He is being held in the Monroe County Jail. AdMichigan State Police, City of Monroe Police Department, Monroe Community Ambulance and the Frenchtown Fire Department assisted at the scene. BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Police are investigating a manโs death after the body of a missing man was found in Monroe County Saturday afternoon. According to authorities, the Monroe County Sheriffโs Office was dispatched to Bedford Township after someone had found a body in the woods. Man threatens to blow up Monroe County Sheriffโs Office unless someone comes to arrest him, police say
GAYLORD, Mich. โ A man threatened to blow up the Monroe County Sheriffโs Office unless someone was sent to arrest him, police said. Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriffโs Office learned Saturday about a social media post in which Philip H. Stone, 37, of Gaylor, threatened to blow up their building if the department didnโt send someone to arrest him by Jan. 13, according to authorities. Stone also threatened to kill anyone who tried to arrest him for any reason and that his statement should be taken as a terrorist threat, officials said. He has ties to the Monroe County area and was upset about a pending Friend of the Court hearing, authorities said. Stone was formally arraigned Monday (Jan. 4) in Otsego County on one charge of making terrorist threats.
Man arrested for online domestic terror threat targeting Monroe County Sheriffโs Office
MONROE COUNTY, Mich. โ A domestic terror threat posted on social media targeting the Monroe County Sheriffโs Office (MCSO) is being investigated. On Saturday, Jan. 2 the MCSO was notified about the social media post. In the online post a man threatened to harm the law enforcement agency and blow up its building if the MCSO did not send someone to arrest him by Jan. 13. Later the man threatened to kill anyone who attempted to arrest him for any reason and noted that his post should be considered a terrorist threat. The man was identified as a 37-year-old from Gaylord with ties to the Monroe County area.
Man, woman hospitalized after attempted murder in Bedford Township, police seek suspects
BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Monroe County Sheriffโs Office is investigating an attempted homicide that occurred Tuesday night in Bedford Township. According to authorities, the incident happened at about 10 p.m. at the Bedford Inn Motel on Telegraph Road. Police said the investigation revealed both victims were assaulted at the Bedford Inn Motel the night prior. A search warrant was authored and served by detectives on a motel room at the Bedford Inn Motel, where evidence of an aggravated assault took place. Monroe County hit-and-run, armed robbery suspect arrested after police pursuit into Toledo
TOLEDO โ The Monroe County Sheriffโs Office is investigating a string of crimes after a two-state police pursuit Saturday night. Just after 5 p.m., a Monroe County Sheriffโs deputy in Lambertville, just north of Toledo, was informed by a citizen of a damaged black Impala parked at a Rite Aid Pharmacy located near the intersection of Secor and Sterns roads. Deputies pursued the suspect southbound into Toledo, where they turned the pursuit over to the Toledo Police Department, who took the man into custody. He is currently lodged at the Lucas County Jail, pending extradition to Michigan for face charges of armed robbery, felonious assault and more. Ohio woman arrested after Monroe County car crash kills 1, injures 3
The 31-year-old driver of the GMC, a man also from Toledo, Ohio, was reportedly waiting for assistance and had his hazard lights on when his vehicle was struck. Following the crash, the front seat passenger of the Honda Civic -- a 36-year-old woman from Toledo, Ohio -- was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. A third passenger of the Honda Civic -- a 41-year-old woman from Toledo, Ohio -- was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition. The woman was not wearing a seat belt during the crash, officials said. The 23-year-old driver of the Honda Civic was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail.
51-year-old Taylor resident missing after boat capsizes in Lake Erie
MONROE CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 51-year-old Taylor resident went missing Sunday after a boat capsized in Lake Erie, the Monroe County Sheriffโs Office said. During the search a 28-year-old Monroe resident was rescued and taken to ProMedica Hospital of Monroe to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Officials say the boat was found upside down about a mile off shore tangled in a fishing net. It is unknown whether the Taylor resident was wearing a life jacket at the time the boat flipped over. The United States Coast Guard is still searching for the Taylor resident.
