Families forced out of homes after fire erupts at apartment building in Garden City
GARDEN CITY, Mich. โ Firefighters from multiple cities spent hours Wednesday night at the Bentley Square Apartments in Garden City after fire broke out in a first floor apartment. Investigators are still working on a cause as 911 callers believed it was electrical and started on a back patio. Firefighters went inside immediately to make sure everyone was out and started an interior attack on the blaze. We had to go defensive because it got inside the walls... and up in the second and third floor,โ said Garden City fire Lt. Daniel Neault. โMy apartment is completely trashed with smoke damage, water damage and fire damage if it hit there,โ said Taylor Sheldon.

Starting Monday, Michigan residents 50 years old and older who have chronic conditions can get access to the coronavirus vaccine. Some health departments are holding off on expanding access, while others are opening up appointments. In Macomb County, opening access to those 50 and older with pre-existing medical conditions added 130,000 people to the list of those waiting for a shot. Caregiver family members and guardians who care for children with special health care needs will also be eligible to receive the vaccine. Individuals seeking to have more than one felony conviction set aside can submit an application after seven years. Individuals cannot have more than two felony convictions or four misdemeanor convictions set aside during their lifetime.

Metro Detroit residents who own cottages in Canada havenโt been able to visit them for six months, and after the latest extension of the border closure, theyโre getting more worried as winter is right around the corner. DETROIT Residents in Detroits Rosedale Park Historic District said they are fed up with cars speeding around a curve, causing drivers to lose control and crash on a routine basis. On the daily, somebody speeding around this curve, not realizing the depth of it. We hear the screeching of the tires, we hear it all, and then we come out and see, Davis said. This guy missed the curve, hit the pole, knocked over the garbage can and ran into the ladys yard across the street, Davis said in the recording. The city of Detroit will begin looking into what can be done to slow the traffic down.
Rockwood shelter-in-place lifted following chemical fire
ROCKWOOD, Mich. The Rockwood Police Department announced Thursday morning that residents can resume normal activity after a shelter-in-place order was issued Wednesday night amid a chemical fire. Police shared in a Facebook post that Huron River Drive is open to regular traffic and residents can open windows and use air conditioning again. Rockford residents living on Huron River Drive between Lamont Street and Truman Road were advised to shelter in place or evacuate the city on Wednesday evening after the R.J. Marshall Company building caught fire. Officials say the fire department responded to a report of an explosion, but are unsure what caused the fire as of Wednesday. One fire fighter was taken to a hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion, but no other injuries were reported.

ST. JOHN'S, NL โ Residents of a Canadian town faced a snowstorm that brought them 30 inches of now over the weekend. St. Johnโs, Newfoundland, Canada is in a state of emergency with 300 Canadian troops planned to arrive Monday morning to help take residents to emergency centers and make sure those with health issues are taken care of.
