ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A man was brought back to life Friday morning by an Oakland County Sheriffโs deputy after he had overdosed on heroin. The man and his driver were both unconscious behind the wheel of a moving pickup truck. The deputy was dispatched to the scene near the border of Auburn Hills and Orion Township. With the clock ticking, he used two shots of Narcan to slowly bring the man back to life. As the man regained consciousness, he was disoriented and began communicating with the first responders.
MSP trooper, Good Samaritans pull father, son from fiery crash on Ann Arbor Road
Good Samaritans pulled a man and child from the SUV before it became engulfed in flames Tuesday. Michigan State Police trooper Dan Drewyor was on his way to the MSP Brighton Post Tuesday morning when he saw the jack-knifed semi on Ann Arbor Road. โIt was very fortunate things happened the way they did with an as good of an outcome. Thanks to multiple good Samaritans who stepped up to help with the rescue, the trooper and along with several bystanders were able to get everyone out the burning vehicle. โA lot of thanks need to go out to the gentleman that helped me,โ Drewyor said.
Trooper, good Samaritan rescue father and son from crash in Plymouth Township
PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A first responder and a good Samaritan jumped into action after an SUV and a semi lost control and crashed in Plymouth Township. As of 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Ann Arbor Road in Plymouth Township was still blocked off. The Plymouth Township Fire Chief said the overpass was covered in ice, which is what caused the crash. The victims, a father and son, were transported to an area hospital. The father and son were rescued by a Michigan State Police trooper and a man who was passing by.
2 Lake Orion teens rescued after being swept by large wave into Lake Michigan
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were rescued Saturday morning after being swept into Lake Michigan. The two Lake Orion teens were on a pier in Grand Haven when a wave struck them and dragged the two into the lake. Officials said they treaded water until someone was able to get a life-ring to them and pull them out of the water. The man was treated for a minor injury and is expected to be OK.WOODTV reports the pier has been shut down until lake conditions have improved.
Swimmers caught in Lake Michigan rip current rescued
PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. Two men have been rescued from Lake Michigan after they were caught in a rip current while swimming. The 34-year-old and 32-year-old men were at Holland State Park in western Michigans Park Township early Sunday evening when they were swept into deeper water, according to the Ottawa County sheriff's office. A jet ski operator was able to get one of the men to a pier where bystanders began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Another jet ski operator was able to take the second man to a beach where he was evaluated by paramedics. The sheriffs office said a no-swimming notice was posted at the state park where three people have drowned this year.
Priest, another man presumed dead in Detroit River
GROSSE ILE, Mich. Authorities searched for a priest and another man who were presumed dead after a boat capsized in the Detroit River, police said Monday. The incident occurred Sunday near Grosse Ile, a suburban island between Michigan and Ontario, Canada. It's very unusual for a 39-foot boat to capsize, Grosse Ile police Lt. Kenneth Pelland said. Rooney, 66, a native of Ireland, was pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton, his latest assignment during more than 30 years as a priest. Horrible for the community, Pelland said.
Family rescues dog nearly 4 miles offshore in Lake Michigan
FRANKFORT, Mich. โ A dog treading water nearly four miles offshore in Lake Michigan has been rescued by a family out on a boating trip. The family was able to have the dog scanned for a microchip. The owners later were located and reunited with their dog. โI just hope that if this was my dog, somebody would do the same for me,โ Wilcox said. โI would just be very grateful, happy because I know how rough Lake Michigan can be.โ

The men were missing in the Micronesia archipelago east of the Philippines for nearly three days when their "SOS" sign was spotted by searchers on Australian and U.S. aircraft, the Australian defense department said. The men were found about 190 kilometers (118 miles) from where they had set out. The men were found in good condition, and an Australian military helicopter was able to land on the beach and give them food and water. SOS is an internationally recognized distress signal that originates from Morse code.
Woman says guardian angels came to her rescue during medical emergency in Wixom
WIXOM, Mich. Judy Musto said guardian angels came to her rescue when a medical emergency happened while she was driving in Wixom that put her and her dog in danger. Wixom police officer Greg Evans arrived on scene. Wixom firefighters checked on Musto, while police officers got her dog, Chico, out of the car. Officer Evans then drove Musto and Chico to an animal hospital and offered to wait with them. Musto and Chico are both doing OK. Musto wanted to thank her heroes for everything they did that day.
Coast Guard rescues 5 people, dog from sinking boat in Lake Huron
BAY CITY, Mich. โ Five people and a dog have been rescued from a sinking boat in Saginaw Bay. The 50-foot vessel was halfway submerged and one person wearing a life jacket was in the water when a Coast Guard rescue boat arrived after 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Coast Guard said Thursday in a release. A line was tossed to the person who was pulled aboard the Coast Guard Station Saginaw River rescue boat. The other four people and the dog were helped aboard the rescue boat from the sinking vessel. Salvage crews were working Thursday on a plan to remove the sinking boat from Saginaw Bay, according to the Coast Guard.

GRAND TRAVERSE BAY, Mich. The US Coast Guard rescued 10 people from the water in Grand Traverse Bay on Friday. Officials say the people were rescued after their boat starting sinking into the water. At around 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sector Sault Sainte Marie Command Center received a distress radio call from a 30-foot vessel that was taking on water. The crew got on scene within 20 minutes and deployed their rescue swimmer to transfer everyone to a Good Samaritan vessel that had arrived to assist. In the video a a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer can be seen assisting 10 people from a sinking 30-foot vessel to a Good Samaritans vessel in Grand Traverse Bay on Friday.

Dashcam video from a Michigan State Police troopers vehicle show the trooper rushing to save an unconscious driver from a burning pickup truck Tuesday morning along eastbound I-94 near Haggerty Road. State police said troopers were called about 6:15 a.m. about a car and boat fire on the interstate. The trooper used his baton to break out the passenger side window and pull the driver out of the pickup truck. The trooper was then able to pull the driver from the truck, reads a statement from state police. The pickup truck was pulling a boat trailer.
Rochester Hills firefighters urge extreme caution during river use after water rescue
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. Two individuals were reported as trapped in the Clinton River in Rochester Hills on Tuesday afternoon. The Rochester Hills Fire Department arrived to the area of Avon and South Livernois to rescue the individuals around 5 p.m. Upon arrival firefighters found the individuals out of the water, but their kayaks were wedged in tree debris in the river, officials said. The Rochester Hills Fire Department is urging extreme caution to residents visiting the river due to high water and fast moving currents caused by recent heavy rains. Officials say downtown Midland could be under 9 feet of water due to the condition of the Edenville dam.
Southfield Fire Department rescues ducklings trapped in storm drain
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. โ The Southfield Fire Department (SFD) came to the rescue on Saturday morning when a brood of ducklings fell into a storm drain. According to a news tip, a duck and her 10 ducklings were crossing Southfield Road to reach a water pond at Spring Haven Apartments when they fell into a storm drain. Members of SFD were able to rescue nine of the 10 ducklings and return them to safety. The resident believes a good samaritan must have witnessed the incident and called the fire department for help.
