Increased enforcement will continue throughout August to raise awareness to the law that makes it illegal to use a hand-held electronic device to text, make phone calls, watch videos and go on social media while driving, according to a press release.

Police investigating multiple incidents of property damage at Northville Woods apartment complex
NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are trying to identify a suspect, or suspects, responsible for damaging property at the Northville Woods apartment complex. Police said someone has caused thousands of dollars in damage by breaking windows at the complex’s laundry facilities and fitness center. This has happened five times and started in late October. Police have released images of an individual who was seen on surveillance cameras in the area at the time of the latest incident. 19-year-old charged in fatal hit-and-run in Northville Township
NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 19-year-old from Westland has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run in Northville Township that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man. Gustavo Godinez Jr. is facing a felony charge that carries up to 15 years in prison. Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Sheldon Road in Northville Township
NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. A 20-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Thursday night in a hit-and-run on Sheldon Road between Six Mile Road and Tournament Drive in Northville Township. Witnesses described the vehicle traveling from Six Mile Road south on Sheldon Road before the crash, police said. The vehicle was described as a white or silver sedan last seen traveling south on Sheldon Road toward Five Mile Road. The Northville Township Police Department with the assistance of accident investigators from the Michigan State Police have an ongoing investigation. All 11 vehicles were found unlocked and personal property was taken, including cell phones, credit cards and a shotgun. Northville Township police immediately began an extensive investigation, which led to the identification and arrests of two suspects including 21-year-old Marwin Lee Chambers of Pontiac and 22-year-old Ethan Edwin Thompson of Waterford Township. Chambers received a $5,000 bond and Thompson received a $10,000 bond.

Detroit teens steal from vehicles, flee Northville Township police in stolen car, officials say
NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two Detroit teenagers were arrested for stealing from vehicles and fleeing police in a stolen car at a Meijer in Northville Township, according to officials. Northville Township police shared the information with Livonia loss prevention officers, who recognized Tolbert and Pitts at their Meijer, officials said. Officers said they returned the stolen car to its owner. Tolbert is charged with motor vehicle theft, receiving and concealing stolen property, larceny from auto and breaking and entering of a vehicle. Northville Township police said shoppers should remember to check their surroundings and make sure any valuables left in cars are hidden from sight, especially during the holiday shopping season.
