SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Police are searching for a missing 52-year-old man named Scott Caswell who was last seen leaving work on 23 Mile and Mound roads March 11. According to police, Caswell was driving a 2011 white Ford Super Duty with the Florida plate number JXIZ75 northbound on Mound Road. Sterling Heights cold case: Search for answers continues in Laithโs Candy Land killings
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. โ Investigators are still trying to figure why two people were murdered at Laithโs Candy Land in Sterling Heights back in 2017. Sufian โSamuelโ Saba, 51, was found shot to death Nov. 27, 2017 in the office of Laithโs Candy Land, a candy and nut wholesaler off of Mound Road in Sterling Heights. The owner of Laithโs Candy Land was Sam Sabaโs younger cousin, 26-year-old Laith Anki. โI think about it every single day,โ said Sterling Heights police Det. โWeโve toyed around with the idea, was Laith the original target and Sam in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Warren neighbors win fight to keep traffic light in massive Mound Road rebuild project
WARREN, Mich. โ The St. Anneโs subdivision in Warren was ready to fight against traffic light removal in a massive Mound Road rebuild project. The plan was to eliminate the cut-through and light at Arden Avenue -- the only way in and out for people in that subdivision. However, the intersection of Mound Road and Arden will see a major change. The ability to cross Mound Road from east and west will end. This means all traffic would flow onto Mound, which many neighbors did not like.
Garbage truck takes out utility pole at 14 Mile, Mound roads in Sterling Heights
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. โ A GFL Environmental garbage truck crashed into a utility pole Wednesday morning at the intersection of Mound Road and 14 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. The intersection was closed while a DTE Energy crews worked to clean up the debris and repair the pole. It has since reopened. No serious injuries have been reported.
Warren neighborhood worried about traffic light removal as part of massive Mound Road rebuild
WARREN, Mich. โ Residents of a Warren neighborhood are worried about the plan to remove the traffic light on their road as part of the massive Mound Road rebuild project. โYou take our street light out and we will never get in or out of our subdivision,โ Warren resident Cynthia Allen said. Allen has lived in Warrenโs St. Anne subdivision at Mound Road and Arden Avenue for 50 years. Part of the plan for the Mound Road makeover is to remove the traffic light at Arden Avenue and eliminate the cut-through. County road officials said removing the light at Arden Avenue improves traffic flow.
Residents on Detroitโs east side asked to shelter in place as police respond to barricaded situation
DETROIT โ Police are responding an allegedly armed man who has barricaded himself inside a home on Concord Street on Detroitโs east side, near Seven Mile Road. Authorities said the 42-year-old man inside the home is having a mental health episode. When police arrived at the home, they said the man was armed and threatened himself and his girlfriend inside the home. โHe produced a handgun and made threatening motions towards his girlfriend, who is in the residence,โ said Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilagyi. Members of the Detroit Special Response and Crisis Negotiation teams are on the scene trying to resolve the situation peaceful.
Shootout in Detroit leads to vehicle crash on Outer Drive and Mound Road
DETROIT โ A crash involving three vehicles happened in the area of Outer Drive and Mound roads Tuesday after a driver said he was trying to escape gunfire. The driver told police he was shot at as he was traveling on Outer Drive. He sped up and crashed into the other vehicles, also causing a fire hydrant to be knocked off. Police believe man barricaded inside Sterling Heights business
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. Police believe a man has barricaded himself inside a business in Sterling Heights. Officers said the man is believed to be inside the Elwood Staffing building on Mound Road between 16 Mile and 17 Mile roads. The man walked into the business and employees said he was acting strangely and wouldnt respond, according to authorities. Police dont know if the man is armed, but theyre assuming the worst, just in case. Southbound Mound Road is closed between 16 Mile and 17 Mile roads.

Police said the speeding truck hit the median and was launched into the air, crashing into the house 3 to 4 feet off the ground. Neighbors said they heard and saw the truck before the crash and added its not uncommon for people to speed down their street. They called 911 and attempted to get the driver out of the truck, but it was too heavily damaged from the collision.

Saturdays report: Sterling Heights police investigating potential homicide at shopping plazaA man in his 30s was found dead at the Fox Hill Plaza on Mound Road around 9:15 p.m. when police responded to a report of shots fired, officials said. The man suffered from apparent gunshot wounds. Police announced Sunday morning that the suspected shooter was identified and arrested. Lincoln Park man struck, killed by semi truck he stepped in front of in Warren
WARREN, Mich. โ A Lincoln Park man was killed Wednesday morning when he was hit by a semi truck in Warren. Police said the 47-year-old man stepped in front of the truck on Mound Road, south of 9 Mile Road, just before 10 a.m.Itโs unknown if the man intentionally walked in front of the truck, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
Pickup truck driver accused of running red light, killing bicyclist in Warren
WARREN, Mich. - A pickup truck driver accused of running a red light and fatally striking a bicyclist in Warren has been charged, officials said. Dennis Lee Harrington, 34, of Utica, is accused in the death of Kyle Ambrozy, 20, of Warren. Police said Harrington was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck on Mound Road around 10 p.m. Sept. 27. Harrington drove through the red light at 12 Mile Road and struck Ambrozy, who was trying to cross Mound Road, according to authorities. He admitted to driving through the red light, according to authorities.
Heavy rains Monday night cause major flooding in Macomb County
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. - The cleanup is ongoing in many Metro Detroit communities after Monday night's storms, especially in Macomb County. Heavy rains and flooding forced M-59 to close at Mound Road, leaving some cars stranded in the water. It wasn't just roads, the flooding also forced some small businesses to close because the water levels just wouldn't go down. The problems first showed up as water filled M-59 near Mound Road. The water levels were so deceiving even tow trucks needed tow trucks.

Machine fire burns at Ford Sterling Axle Plant
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - Firefighters were at the Ford Sterling Axle plant on Tuesday morning working to put out a fire in a machine. The Sterling Heights fire chief said oil connected to the machine was making it difficult for firefighters to get to the fire and put it out. Smoke was filling the building.
