Florida, Texas have nearly 40% of new COVID hospitalizations in U.S.
Florida has had more coronavirus cases than all 30 states with the lowest case rates combined, according to the White House pandemic response team. During a press briefing Thursday, team members also said that Florida and Texas alone have accounted for nearly 40 percent of new hospitalizations across the country.

Following the Detroit Youth Choir’s run on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent," a production company is interested in portraying the group’s rise to fame in a new documentary TV series, or docu-series. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the talented performers of the Detroit Youth Choir have continued to safely rehearse. Unfortunately, though, the pandemic has directly affected the Detroit Youth Choir family. “The Detroit youth choir has really brought back Motown,” White said.

Now the group is being considered for a Grammy for their rendition of the song “Glory" -- an Oscar-winning song from the 2014 movie “Selma.”“The production company sent me an email saying, 'Congratulations, you guys are considered for a Grammy for the re-imagination of ‘Glory’," said Anthony White with the Detroit Youth Choir. Gabrielle Union, NBC settle dispute over racism allegations
LOS ANGELES – Gabrielle Union and NBC said Tuesday that they have settled their differences in their dispute over her firing as a judge on “America's Got Talent,” which she said was retaliation for her complaints that the show tolerated racism on the set. “We’ve reached an amicable resolution," Union and the network said in a joint statement. "NBC Entertainment appreciates the important concerns raised by Gabrielle Union and remains committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds are treated with respect.”Both sides declined further comment, and would not give further details. Variety reported soon after that Union, who is Black, believed she was fired because she had asked NBC and the show’s producers to respond to an environment that tolerated racist jokes and remarks from judges and producers. Detroit Youth Choir to perform tonight on America’s Got Talent
One year ago, the Detroit Youth Choir finished in second place, and this year, the choir returned for an encore performance. The choir prerecorded its performance in Detroit instead of live in Los Angeles because of COVID-19 restrictions and changes to the show. White says Detroit Youth Choir is now made up of three different choirs, developing at different levels. It was established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, providing support to the Detroit Youth Choir in perpetuity. Shyel White said being a part of the Detroit Youth Choir improved her self-confidence.
America’s Got Talent season finale tonight at 8pm

These ‘America’s Got Talent’ contestants are gearing up for their final performances
Three of the finalists from this season of America’s Got Talent took time today to talk with host Tati Amare before their performances tonight. They’ve all made it through round after round of eliminations to make it to tonight’s show. Singer Archie Williams said that no matter what happens tonight, he already feels like a winner. Prior to the show, Williams had spent more than 35 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Now he says that he just wants to help those in similar situations.
Television icon Regis Philbin dies at 88
Regis Philbin, the legendary broadcaster who hosted the talk show "Live With Regis & Kathie Lee!" and later "Live With Regis & Kelly!," has died at age 88. Philbin died of natural causes on Friday night according to a representative with the family. Philbin had hosted multiple television shows, including Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee, Americas Got Talent and more.

LOS ANGELES Summertime escapism in the form of talent and game shows ruled on broadcast TV, with 60 Minutes the exception. For the week, CBS averaged 3.8 million viewers and NBC was second with 3.3 million. ABC had 2.9 million viewers, Fox had 1.8 million, Univision had 1.4 million, ION Television had 1.2 million, Telemundo had 890,000 and CW had 610,000. MSNBC had 1.8 million, CNN had 1.6 million, HGTV had 1.3 million and TLC had 1.2 million. 60 Minutes, CBS, 7.9 million.
