Special tribute held for Clinton Township police chief who died from COVID
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Earlier this week, Clinton Township lost its police chief to complications from COVID-19. Fred Posavetz had been with the department for more than 40 years. He rose to the rank of chief in 2007. He was then transported by helicopter to a University of Michigan hospital where he was placed on a ventilator. A special tribute was held in his honor on Friday.

Pedestrian in critical condition after collision in Clinton Township
A man was critically injured when in a collision in Clinton Township, Dec. 19, 2020. CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 52-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck by a pickup truck as he was crossing the street near the intersection of Cottrell and Harper avenues, just east of I-94, Saturday. According to authorities, the collision happened just before 5:30 p.m. when the pickup truck turned from northbound Harper Avenue onto eastbound Cottrell Avenue, where the man was walking in the crosswalk. Police said the man struck his head and suffered a head injury. Police said the driver, a 53-year-old man from Clinton Township, immediately stopped and rendered aid.

19-year-old Warren man killed in motorcycle crash in Clinton Township
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 19-year-old Warren man was killed in a collision between his motorcycle and a pickup truck on Tuesday. The crash happened in the area of Little Mack Avenue and Finley Street in Clinton Township at 3:26 p.m. Police said the Warren man was traveling south on Little Mack Avenue when he struck a truck turning onto Finley Street. The Warren man was transported to McClaren Hospital where he died from his injuries. The pickup truck driver was not injured in the incident. Madajczyk is with the Clinton Township Police Investigation Division.

Detroit man faces homicide charges in 2013 fatal stabbing of Clinton Township mother, daughter
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Detroit man is facing multiple homicide charges in connection to the 2013 fatal stabbing of a Clinton Township woman and her 11-year-old daughter. Clinton Township police, along with the U.S. Marshall Task Force, arrested Henry Jermaine Johnson, 35, of Detroit, on Tuesday. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday charged Johnson with two counts of homicide in the deaths of 47-year-old Tina Geiger and her daughter, Krissy. The case then went cold until another man, 40-year-old Tony Johnson, of Detroit, was charged with two counts of murder in August of this year. Henry Johnson received a $50,000 cash bond and is being held at the Macomb County Jail as of Wednesday, officials said.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man who threw a brick paver through a window to break into Eminem’s Clinton Township home told the rapper he was at the home to kill him, an officer testified in court. Eminem caught Matthew David Hughes, 27, breaking into his home on Westchester Street after 3 a.m. April 5, according to Clinton Township police. Authorities said it was a brick paver that Hughes threw at the back window of Eminem’s home to get inside. Quinn told Judge Jacob Michael Femminineo Jr. that he was able to identify Hughes as the man in the security footage. He told Hackstock that he woke up to Hughes standing over him, but thought it was his nephew.

Clinton Township police asking witnesses in fatal shooting of tattoo artist to come forward
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Clinton Township Police Department is asking anyone with information on the fatal shooting of a local tattoo artist to come forward. On May 16, Clinton Township police officers were called to Hickory Lane south of Joy Boulevard, east of Gratiot to check on a man who was reportedly shot. An investigation revealed several other potential witnesses were in the apartment when the shooting took place and fled right after it happened. CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Rapper Eminem caught an intruder who broke into his Clinton Township home in the middle of the night by smashing through a window with a brick paver, police said. Clinton Township police said the break-in happened around 4 a.m. April 5. Matthew David Hughes, 27, threw a brick paver through the back window of Eminem’s home to get inside, officials said. Eminem was home at the time, and security was alerted when Hughes got inside, according to authorities. Clinton Township police were called to the scene after Hughes was detained by security.
