THREE RIVERS, MI – Three people were injured early Saturday, Sept. 10 after a vehicle crashed into a building in downtown Three Rivers. Police officers arriving to the scene around 3 a.m. found a Dodge Charger lodged in a building, a news release said. The driver was airlifted to a Kalamazoo hospital to be treated for injuries. DETROIT -- An officer with the Detroit Police Department was suspended this week after he was arrested early Sunday morning by members of the same department. The officer was riding as the passenger in a Dodge Charger early Sunday morning that was seen speeding by police. After arresting the man, police learned he was a fellow officer and that the car he was riding in was stolen out of Ohio. The car was reported stolen “several months prior,” but had been retagged using a different vehicle identification number. The officer was initially suspended with pay following his arrest, but Chief James White is petitioning the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners to have the suspended officer’s wages withheld.

Chicago police are investigating after a Dodge Charger hit an on-duty officer early Thursday in the Loop. Officials say two guns were recovered from the Charger, and its driver was thought to be under the influence of alcohol.

Undercover officers were monitoring an illegal street racing gathering from inside an unmarked vehicle when one of them “was faced with a life-and-death situation where fatal force was initiated,” Acting Detroit Police Chief James White said during a news conference Monday afternoon. The Charger was “drifting in circles” at high speeds with three male passengers sitting on the windows with their torsos outside the vehicle, White said. The male driver lost control, regained control and continued to drift before losing control again, resulting in the crash. When the Charger struck the driver’s side of the undercover vehicle, one of the passengers was ejected, White said. The impact also caused the siren to sound from the undercover vehicle.

DETROIT – A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting at an illegal street racing event in Detroit late Sunday night, FOX 2 Detroit reports. The man, whose identity has not been released, was a passenger in a stolen blue Dodge Charger that was doing in donuts where several hundred people were gathered on the city’s east side for illegal street racing and drifting, the TV station reports. Undercover officers were at the scene in an unmarked police vehicle doing surveillance. The Charger crashed into their unmarked police vehicle, the report said. The man then allegedly got out with a firearm in hand and fired three to four shots at the undercover officers before he was fatally shot by one of the officers.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Three people are accused of making counterfeit money that was passed at area stores, including Home Depot, Meijer and Walgreens, to obtain thousands of dollars. The defendants have been accused in a six-count indictment alleging conspiracy to make and pass counterfeit U.S. currency. The indictment said that Vasquez that day passed $1,000 in counterfeit $50 bills to buy $970.98 in merchandise at the Meijer store in Walker. Two days later, he allegedly passed $1,300 in counterfeit bills to buy $1,272.78 in merchandise at the Home Depot in Kentwood, the indictment said. On Jan. 9, Vasquez passed $1,300 in counterfeit $50 bills at the Home Depot in Walker before his co-defendants tried to return most of the merchandise for a refund, the indictment.

Two people were arrested overnight in Southgate when the stolen car they were using to flee police ran out of gas in the middle of the chase, authorities said.

The 34-year-old is accused of pointing a gun at another driver.

Dash cam footage captured by a trooper with the Michigan State Police and a private citizen shows the moments just before a stolen Dodge Charger crashed into an SUV and a garbage truck Tuesday afternoon. According to Michigan State Police, the Charger passed the trooper around 12:23 p.m. while she was sitting on the shoulder of northbound I-75 and Holbrook. DETROIT -- A 20-year-old Roseville man has been charged in connection with the death of a 9-year-old boy who was killed Saturday after being hit by a car while riding his ATV. According to the Associated Press, Daveon Hardiman was charged Monday with one count of reckless driving causing death. Hardiman was allegedly behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger that was traveling the wrong way down a one-way street at a high rate of speed when he hit Mai’Juan Calderin. Witnesses reported seeing Hardiman driving the car and allegedly attempting to flee the scene after hitting Calderin, but other drivers blocked his car in until police arrived. Bond was set at $50,000 and Hardiman is expected back in court on March 31.

DETROIT – Michigan State Police released footage of a Friday night police pursuit through the streets of Detroit. According to authorities, two people pointed weapons at a Detroit police officers and drove off in a Dodge Charger. Police said the pursuit began just after 10:30 p.m near the intersection of Evergreen Road and I-96. The pursuit ended when the Charger ran a stop sign near the intersection of Kentfield Street and I-96 and struck a DPD cruiser. MSP said the Dodge Charger was confirmed stolen and a stolen handgun was also recovered.

Police are seeking the help locating and identifying a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 78-year-old man on Detroit’s west side.

About 1:30 p.m., the driver had just dropped off a passenger in the 5200 block of Maypole Avenue when his customer tried to hijack his black Dodge Charger, and then fired shots at him, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.

DETROIT – Witnesses reported two vehicles exchanging gunfire while speeding down I-96 about 10 p.m. Monday. One of them was struck by another vehicle on I-96 while trying to flee the scene of the crash on foot. The vehicles -- a Dodge Charger and a Dodge SUV -- eventually crashed along the westbound I-96 express lanes near Schaefer Highway. The third victim was in the other vehicle involved in the shooting. However, another vehicle, that was not involved in the shooting or crash, ended up fatally striking this person.

DETROIT – Police are searching for three men wanted in connection with a carjacking and separate shooting that happened in the 24500 block of West Eight Mile Road in Detroit on the city’s west side. Police say after being shot the victim stumbled a short distance through the parking lot and collapsed on the ground. Then the shooter returned to the Dodge Charger while the second armed carjacker ran east through the parking lot to an unknown area. Police describe the first carjacker as a Black man wearing a mask, all black clothing and armed with an AK-47. One person from the Dodge Charger was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, police said. A second person was in critical condition and was taken to an Aurora hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, according to police.

He said the thieves took his car on a joy ride and crashed it.

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A driver fleeing police late Tuesday, Sept. 30, crashed a Dodge Charger on the Baldwin Street entrance ramp to eastbound I-196. After a brief pursuit, the driver crashed into a cement wall on the Baldwin Street entrance ramp to the expressway. The Charger came to a stop partially blocking the right lane of eastbound I-196, police said. The driver, who was not hurt, had multiple outstanding warrants and faces news charges for allegedly fleeing police. The entrance ramp and the right lane of eastbound I-196 were closed for about an hour.

DETROIT Detroit police said three people, including a 2-year-old girl, were injured in a collision Tuesday in the 2200 block of Davison Street. Police said the 2-year-old and her 22-year-old mother are listed in critical and stable condition respectively. The person, who was driving a 16-wheel semi, is also listed in critical condition. A preliminary investigation indicated the girls mother was driving an orange Dodge Charger traveling east on Davison when she collided with the semi as it traveled west. DETROIT – A Detroit public schools police officer has been rushed to the hospital after being hit by a car that was doing donuts. It happened Tuesday night in the parking lot of Cass Technical High School. Officials aid a green Dodge Charger was doing donuts in the parking lot. Officers initiated a traffic stop and when an officer stepped out of the vehicle to approach the Charger, the suspect vehicle allegedly pinned the officer against the police cruiser. The driver is in police custody and the passenger of that vehicle is being questioned by police.

TROY, Mich. – Two people are in police custody after allegedly hijacking a vehicle outside of Somerset Mall on Thursday morning. Police say at about 7:30 a.m. two males were approached by four people in a silver Nissan when exiting the mall. Two suspects took the victims’ 2016 black Dodge Charger and fled the scene while the other two suspects fled the scene in the Nissan. A black 2016 Dodge Charger was hijacked from two people at Somerset Mall on the morning of July 23, 2020. The two suspects from Tennessee are being housed at the Jackson County Jail and are expected to be arraigned soon.

Police said a three people approached a 20-year-old man who was pumping gas and demanded his 2011 Dodge Charger at gunpoint. Police said one suspect entered the Dodge and drove south on Conner Street and the other two suspects followed in a 2017 silver Chevrolet Impala. One of the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and fled south on Conner with the remaining two suspects following in a silver 2017 Chevy Impala.

The 37-year-old Flat Rock man was pulled over around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on northbound I-75 near Lapeer Road in Auburn Hills. DETROIT - Police are looking for multiple suspects after several cars were stolen from a dealership in Detroit. According to authorities, Dymix Used Autos on Freeland Street, just south of West Chicago Street, had seven cars stolen from the dealership's garage. The thieves took a Dodge Charger and used it to pry their way inside the garage. He said once the thieves created a pathway, the vehiclers were taken in about 30 minutes. It's a huge financial loss for the dealership, but the business plans to stick around and increase security to make sure it doesn't happen again.

DETROIT - A young driver who sped off with a stolen Dodge Charger won't face any legal trouble after catching a major break from a Detroit auto dealer. Last week, a man came looking for a car, but it appears as though he had no intention of paying for a 2008 Charger. Surveillance video shows the man taking off. After a quick check of the surveillance video and talking, the owner and salesman recalled someone calling the same day and asking about the car. He was able to locate the Charger in the same condition it was in when it was stolen.
