SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 27-year-old Southfield man died overnight after his girlfriend called police to report she had stabbed him during a dispute at an apartment complex, officials said. The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday (March 15) at the Lancaster Hills apartment complex on Lancaster Drive near Telegraph and 12 Mile roads, according to authorities. Police said they received a call from a 22-year-old Southfield woman who said she was involved in a domestic altercation and had stabbed her boyfriend. 17-year-old man charged in connection to armed carjacking in Ferndale

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A 17-year-old man has been charged in connection to a carjacking in Ferndale. Jacarie Vance is accused of being involved in a carjacking on Thursday at 7:19 a.m. at a Shell gas station at 1100 W Eight Mile Road. Vance is accused of pointing a handgun at the victim and demanding his wallet and car keys. Vance is accused of fleeing westbound on 8 Mile Road in the victim’s vehicle. Father in custody after allegedly abducting daughter at gunpoint in Southfield

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A young child was found safe Monday night after being abducted from her family at gunpoint in Southfield. An Amber Alert was issued Monday afternoon after Jaliyah Ford, 1, was allegedly abducted by her father Jeremy Ford around 2 p.m. in a parking lot near West Nile Road. As police began searching for the girl, people who parked in the lot started noticing their vehicles had been damaged by shots fired by the father amid the abduction. A woman who did not want to go on camera had to have her tire replaced after it was punctured from one of the shots fired. Jaliyah Ford’s father is now in police custody after turning himself in on Monday evening, returning his child to police unharmed.

Southfield police respond to lawsuit blaming officers for miscarriage

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. Southfield police are responding to a lawsuit filed by a woman who said that police brutality caused her to lose her unborn baby. He said hes appalled by allegations that his officers would treat a Black resident differently than a White resident or knowingly use a Taser on a pregnant woman. When you look at the narrative that was suggested: that we knowingly would Tase a pregnant woman -- that is appalling to me, Barren said. It is also alarming to me that it was suggested that this police department would have treated her differently if she was a White woman from an affluent community.
