A man who robbed CVS pharmacies five times -- in Ann Arbor, Saline, Milan, and the same location twice in Van Buren Township -- was arrested when a pharmacist gave him a fake pill bottle installed with a tracker and the thief tried to tell the officers following him that the person they were looking for โran that way.โ

Mobile home fire forces Metro Detroit family to start over
BELLEVILLE, Mich. โ A father and his two children lost everything early Saturday morning in a fire that tore through their mobile home community. It happened at the Rawsonville Woods Community in Belleville, near Rawsonville and Willow Roads. โAt 3 something in the morning, we hear a loud knock and it was the officers telling us that the house next door is on fire,โ said Jose Rivera. Thatโs what Jose Rivera said they woke up to early Saturday morning. โWe lost our cell phones, wallets -- everything was in the house,โ Rivera said.

The journey for 11-year-old Jackson Walker has been difficult one, being diagnosed with sickle cell disease when he was born. โWe have been going in and out of the hospital with him,โ said Esther Walker, Jacksonโs mother. โOn Nov. 15, Jackson actually had the bone marrow transplant done to get cured of sickle cell,โ Esther Walker said. I feel great.โThough the Walker family could not be happier about their sonโs progress, the family now continues their battle financially.

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Charges have been filed against a 29-year-old driver in a crash that killed two construction works in Ypsilanti Township. Ryann Musselman, of Belleville, is charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death. A vehicle driven by Musselman hit both of the workers in the area. The crash happened at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 94 eastbound near Harris Road. YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Two construction workers were struck and killed on eastbound I-94 near Harris Road in Ypsilanti Township around 1:45 a.m. today, according to Michigan State Police. A vehicle driven by 29-year-old Belleville resident Ryann Danielle Musselman hit both of the construction workers in the area. Police say the cause of the crash is suspected of being alcohol related. She was arrested and taken to the Washtenaw County Jail for two counts of Operating While Intoxicated. Sumpter Township quadruple homicide suspect charged with first-degree murder
The suspect in a quadruple homicide in Sumpter Township has been charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday. Raymond Lee Bailey, 37, of Kinross, Michigan, is facing four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of felony firearm in the killing of four people over the weekend. At about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the homicide scene in the 24000 block of Martinsville in Sumpter Township. The four victims shot and killed by a handgun have been identified as: Laura Tanner, 35, and her sister Sarah Grupa, 38, of Detroit; Forrest Sampson, 28 and Neil Sampson, 31, of Van Buren Township. Detectives then identified Bailey, the ex-boyfriend of one of the deceased women, as a possible suspect.

He was arraigned Wednesday from a hospital bed. Authorities said he shot four people to death in a home in Sumpter Township, including Baileys ex girlfriend Laura Tanner. Back in November of 2019, Bailey had been charged with domestic violence with intent to do bodily harm.
City of Belleville working to address water main break
BELLEVILLE, Mich. โ The city of Belleville is working to address a water main break at E. Huron River Drive between Bedell Street and Madelon Avenue. The city does not know exactly when the issue will be resolved, but repair efforts are underway. Water service may be temporarily stopped to make repairs. No boil water alert has been issued at this time. City officials are urging people to avoid the area.
30-year-old father drowns in Belleville pond after being encouraged to take bet
BELLEVILLE, Mich. โ A 30-year-old father died trying to swim across a pond late Thursday night after being encouraged to take a bet. Police arrived just after 9 p.m., when 30-year-old Cedric Collins of Ypsilanti slipped under the water and didnโt come back up. Cedric Collins (WDIV)Witnesses said there was a $1,000 bet involved. Collins didnโt want to take the bet, but was goaded into it by the 15 or so people there. Collins jumped into the pond and didnโt make it halfway across before going under.

Greenhouse owners concerned over financial impact of Michiganโs extended stay-at-home order
BELLEVILLE, Mich. โ Robsonโs Greenhouse in Belleville is usually extremely busy on Easter weekend. Gretchen Whitmerโs extended stay-at-home order deems greenhouses and garden centers non-essential -- impacting the industryโs busiest time of the year. Robsonโs Greenhouse, a family-run business established in 1929, is only open from mid-May until June. โIf we cannot get this stuff out it turns to garbage," says Kevin Robson, owner of Robsonโs Greenhouse. He hopes others can enjoy his products during this time, as he says flowers are the โbest mental health remedy.โ

Thomas McIntyre, 64, matched four of the white balls and the Powerball 12-29-34-53-65 PB: 23 in the Oct. 12 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Another day, another alligator: Resident sees alligator in Belleville Lake
VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Another alligator has been found in a state where alligators do not natively reside, just days after the last sighting in Metro Detroit. An alligator was found Tuesday morning on the side of a road in Oceola Township. Last week, a Detroit man vacationing in Saginaw shot a gator that wandered onto his property. The week before, an alligator was found wandering around Milford. The sighting of the large reptile was the talk of Belleville, where a woman insists she saw a real alligator in Belleville Lake.
