More showers expected for Metro Detroit -- What we know
Puffy clouds cruise over Detroit and most of Southeast Michigan the rest of today. The clouds in our North Zone (north of Hall Road/M-59) release some showers. It remains warm. Tuesday night will be cooler with clouds overhead. Two more rounds of showers are possible tomorrow. Sunnier, more stable weather persists during the end of the work week.
Two major construction projects set to begin Tuesday in Metro Detroit
There will be two massive construction projects to watch out for on Tuesday. Expect ramp closures and bridgework on the M-59/I-94 interchange in Macomb County and reduced lanes on I-96 between Kent Lake and Wixom roads in Oakland County.

From the end of breakfast to the beginning of lunch, light rain is possible south of M-59/Hall Road; snow and rain showers are possible north of Hall Road. In all, 1 to 2 inches of new snow is possible from Sunday night to Monday morning. That rain snow mixture is more likely south of M 59/Hall Road. Thursday and Friday will be partly sunny mostly cloudy and chillier. Saturday will be partly sunny and not as chilly.

Temperatures continue to rise and snow starts to fall Sunday evening through Monday morning. It will be slippery in the morning and drier and brisk in the afternoon. After a relatively light amount of snow, more thawing is to take place midweek. Monday morning, rain will mix with snow at times, and this will cut down on snow totals. Afternoon temperatures return to the 30s.
61-year-old Harrison Township man killed in Macomb County crash
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Officials are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Macomb County. Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to Hall Road and Gratiot Avenue on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. for the report of a crash. Police said Reed Styers, 61, of Harrison Township was killed in the crash. A white Chevrolet van being driven by a 69-year-old man from Casco Township was driving on Hall Road, east of Gratiot Avenue. READ: More Macomb County news

Chicago-based Portillos opening first Michigan restaurant in Sterling Heights
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. Sterling Heights will be the home of Michigans first Portillos, a Chicago-style fast casual restaurant. The site for the upcoming Portillos restaurant is located on Hall Road, a busy restaurant corridor in Macomb County. We have had Portillos fans asking us to come to Michigan for years, said Michael Osanloo, CEO of Portillos. Once complete, the restaurant will be the first Portillos location to feature a garage-like environment. I used to have family in the Chicagoland area, and Portillos was always one of my favorite spots to visit, said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor.
Red Robin in Clinton Township closes after employees test positive for COVID-19
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. A Red Robin restaurant in Clinton Township closed after two employees tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Red Robin on Hall Road east of Hayes Road shut down Sunday and spent the last several days closed for cleaning. We received confirmation that two team members at our Clinton Township, Michigan, location tested positive for COVID-19, Red Robin said in a statement. On Thursday afternoon, the Macomb County Health Department said three employees have now tested positive for the coronavirus. Customer Sam Delia went to the Red Robin to meet an old friend and was disappointed to find he couldnt go inside.

Synthetic ice skating rink, food trucks, more planned at Lakeside Mall
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A synthetic ice skating rink, art installations, food trucks and a pop-up shop market are anticipated to come to Lakeside Mall. “We are thrilled to be bringing an ice-skating rink to Lakeside,” said Jerry Weller, Mall Manager, in a statement. In late spring, Lakeside’s first food truck and pop-up shop market will be installed. A variety of Sterling Heights’ and Detroit’s top food vendors will be available alongside merchandise by local artists. Out of the Box, a real estate firm based in Miami, purchased Lakeside mall December 2019.
Northern Michigan man charged with possession of meth
MONTMORENCY COUNTY, Mich. – A Northern Michigan man was arrested by state police for possession of methamphetamine, officials said. Michigan State Police troopers conducted a traffic stop around 8 p.m. Feb. 23 on M-32 near Hall Road in Avery Township, officials said. There were four people in the car, including Marcus Allen Mackay, 36, of Grayling, Michigan. Mackay was arrested for possession of meth, according to authorities. Mackay was arraigned at 88th District Court in Montmorency County and charged with possession of methamphetamine, a felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.

Macomb County deputies said they had been called to a business on Hall Road in Macomb Township earlier Saturday because the same man was acting suspicious.
