There are definitely some chances of rain in Metro Detroit over the coming days -- here’s what we can say about the weather forecast right now.

There’s a chance of rain for each of the next five days in Metro Detroit, starting Wednesday night and continuing through Sunday.

We’re tracking a few slim chances of light rain over the weekend and next week. Still, conditions will remain dry for most, as temperatures start warming up in Metro Detroit.

A weak clipper system is crossing the area Friday evening and bringing with it some light to moderate snow.

Travel overnight for areas north of M-59 could be a bit slippery as we expect freezing drizzle and light snow. We could pick up a quick dusting to a half inch for the thumb.

It was a bizarre scene that first started in a gas station parking lot, with the driver nearly running several people over. That driver then led Utica police on a chase and, at one point, started ramming their patrol cars.

The Lake Michigan lake-effect snow machine is still cranking, and one band, in particular, has persisted between M-59 and I-69 with some accumulation during the day today.

Barriers have been tucked away for winter on the stretch of Mound Road between 15 Mile Road and M-59, relieving a lot of commuter’s headaches.

Some of us could see a light wintry mix overnight tonight, but a stronger system moves in for the second half of next week

Multiple people are recovering after a fire ripped through an apartment complex in Pontiac.

Several traffic signals are out due to power loss on a busy stretch of Hall Road in Macomb County on Wednesday afternoon.

Part of Hall Road (M-59) is closed Friday afternoon in Clinton Township due to a gas leak, officials said.

Mostly Cloudy skies Thursday evening with a slight chance of a few showers; the best chance at rain will be north of M-59, but we can’t completely rule out an isolated shower elsewhere.

A bridge emergency is developing Tuesday night in Pontiac with significant repairs needed on an overpass that handles a lot of traffic.

Puffy clouds cruise over Detroit and most of Southeast Michigan the rest of today. The clouds in our North Zone (north of Hall Road/M-59) release some showers. It remains warm. Tuesday night will be cooler with clouds overhead. Two more rounds of showers are possible tomorrow. Sunnier, more stable weather persists during the end of the work week.

There will be two massive construction projects to watch out for on Tuesday. Expect ramp closures and bridgework on the M-59/I-94 interchange in Macomb County and reduced lanes on I-96 between Kent Lake and Wixom roads in Oakland County.

The driver of a yellow Corvette fired a pepper ball gun at a sedan because he was “concerned for his safety” during a road rage incident while the two vehicles were merging at a construction zone in Chesterfield Township, officials said.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected Sunday night as temperatures drop into the middle 30s. Outside of the metro zone, some spots will be in the lower 30s.

Partridge Creek Mall was originally developed by Taubman and opened to a lot of fanfare in 2007. Designed to be an upscale outdoor shopping experience that was dog-friendly, a Nordstrom and a Parisian anchored it. Fast forward to 2014, the mall was sold at the height of the market.

A two-year project to rebuild a 4.5 mile stretch of M-59 in Macomb County is set to resume construction next week.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Genesee, Lapeer and Sanilac Counties from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday.

A special delivery from across the country arrived at a food bank in Oakland County. The key delivery was made to a Lighthouse food warehouse in Waterford Township on Thursday (Jan. 27). It comes from a church in Utah. The church realized that the food program at Lighthouse was in trouble, not only did the church send funds -- but also two dozen pallets of food.

It appears we still may have some scattered showers around Christmas morning, but then dry out in the afternoon.

A driver was killed overnight in a five-car chain reaction crash while driving in the wrong direction on M-59 in Sterling Heights, police say.

Video from Sterling Heights police shows a long and intense high-speed chase and the ensuing arrest of a man accused of breaking into the home of a couple who posted on social media that they were at a wedding, officials said.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac and St. Clair Counties until 11 p.m.

Tuesday’s cold front has ushered in a cooler, drier air mass, with the day’s mid 80s (30 degrees Celsius) now replaced by Wednesday’s mid- to upper 70s (24 to 26 degrees Celsius). While an isolated brief, light shower is possible before sunset -- best chance is north of M-59 -- most of us should be dry through the evening hours.

In all, 1 to 2 inches of new snow is possible from Sunday night to Monday morning. That rain snow mixture is more likely south of M 59/Hall Road. DETROIT – Winter weather already has prompted some school closings in Metro Detroit. There is plenty of snow expected overnight Monday into Tuesday morning, so you can expect even more closings to be announced. North of 8 Mile -- and especially north of M-59 -- snow will be more persistent, and an additional inch or two is possible. Temperatures today will only rise a couple of degrees, perhaps to near freezing (0 degrees Celsius), with a northeast wind becoming north at 10 to 15 mph. Snow diminishes Tuesday night, with lows in the low to mid 20s (-5 degrees Celsius). Becoming partly cloudy and much colder Wednesday night, with lows in the low to mid teens (-11 degrees Celsius).

WARREN, Mich. – Residents of a Warren neighborhood are worried about the plan to remove the traffic light on their road as part of the massive Mound Road rebuild project. “You take our street light out and we will never get in or out of our subdivision,” Warren resident Cynthia Allen said. Allen has lived in Warren’s St. Anne subdivision at Mound Road and Arden Avenue for 50 years. Part of the plan for the Mound Road makeover is to remove the traffic light at Arden Avenue and eliminate the cut-through. County road officials said removing the light at Arden Avenue improves traffic flow.

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man accused of being drunk and driving recklessly at the time of a four-car crash that killed a 6-year-old girl and injured her parents in Waterford Township is facing five charges. DETROIT – Since March the coronavirus pandemic has hurt the American commercial aviation industry. On Monday in Oakland County Local 4 News got a look at the damage to that sector and the recovery process. Pentastar Aviation is on M-59 which is part of the Oakland County International Airport. The Oakland County International Airport is the second busiest in the State of Michigan behind Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Oakland County Executive David Coulter says Michigan’s general aviation business is a quiet giant.

PONTIAC, Mich. – Rolonda Williams and her family are literally picking up the pieces following the events that unfolded Saturday night at her home on Dudley Avenue. Not only was her 11-year-old daughter Keola shot, but her two grandchildren, Dallas and Camille, were also caught in the line of fire during a drive-by shooting. “Last night my house was shot up and the gunfire was unbelievable,” Williams said. My 7-year-old grand baby was shot once,” Rolonda recalled. Police are looking for this vehicle in connection to an Aug. 29, 2020 drive-by shooting in Pontiac.

PONTIAC, Mich. – Three girls were shot in Pontiac in a drive-by shooting Saturday night, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Police said the grandparents were watching their grandchildren as well as their two children when they heard gun shots and glass breaking. Authorities said deputies transported two of the children to a local hospital and a third was transported by ambulance. The grandparents and the father of the 10-month-old said they have no idea who shot at the home or why. A photograph of the suspect’s vehicle -- believed to possibly be a Chrysler 300 -- can be seen above.

Flooding closed both sides of M-59 in Sterling Heights on Friday morning. The freeway has since reopened on both sides. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Macomb County until 10:15 a.m. on Friday.

It's not clear how many drivers on I-75 drove past the billboard or if any children witnessed the pornographic video. Police are looking into whether someone hacked into the system and how the images ended up on a billboard by the side of a major freeway.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. - The cleanup is ongoing in many Metro Detroit communities after Monday night's storms, especially in Macomb County. Heavy rains and flooding forced M-59 to close at Mound Road, leaving some cars stranded in the water. It wasn't just roads, the flooding also forced some small businesses to close because the water levels just wouldn't go down. The problems first showed up as water filled M-59 near Mound Road. The water levels were so deceiving even tow trucks needed tow trucks.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The northbound I-75 exit to Chrysler Drive in Oakland County will be shut down this weekend and remain closed through the end of August, officials said. Crews will work to repair the section of road between South Boulevard and Baldwin Road. During the closure, northbound I-75 traffic will be directed to eastbound M-59 to northbound Squirrel Road to westbound Featherstone Drive to access the Chrysler facility, according to officials. The I-75 project includes repairing 21 bridges between South Boulevard and Baldwin Road in Auburn Hills. Crews will resurface both directions of I-75 between South Boulevard and Giddings Road and repair the ramps at the Chrysler Drive and M-24 interchanges.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened after 3 p.m. Thursday on westbound M-59 between Adams and Squirrel roads. PONTIAC, Mich. - Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, July 26, eastbound and westbound M-59 will be closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Opdyke Road in Pontiac to allow crews to safely demolish the old Silverdome pedestrian bridge. Both directions of M-59 will be closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Opdyke Road to remove a pedestrian bridge. In addition to the freeway closure, crews will also close the following ramps:The southbound I-75 ramp to westbound M-59The Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard ramp to eastbound M-59The southbound Opdyke Road to westbound M-59The Opdyke Road ramp to eastbound M-59. During the closure, eastbound M-59 traffic will be detoured south on Woodward Avenue to eastbound Square Lake Road, then northbound I-75 back to eastbound M-59. Westbound M-59 traffic will be detoured onto northbound I-75 to University Drive, then southbound I-75 to westbound Square Lake Road, then north on Woodward Avenue back to westbound M-59.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Auburn Hills and Troy firefighters were battling brush fires Tuesday afternoon along Interstate 75 between M-59 and Adams Road. The fire departments said the cause of the string of brush fires is not yet known. Traffic was moving slowly on the interstate near North Squirrel Road in Auburn Hills. Firefighters had blocked one lane.
