RIVER ROUGE, Mich. – It’s been over a year since River Rouge football won its first state title in late November of 2019, but time has not stopped the Panthers’ quest for success. While a lot of press members selected River Rouge to get knocked out of the playoffs by Detroit King last week, Rouge won, 33-30. The talented offensive line has allowed River Rouge quarterback Mareyohn Hrabowski (Western Michigan) to lead the Panthers deep into the playoffs once again. The performance put Hrabowski into the spotlight for River Rouge this year and has continued to prove he deserves the attention. “I’m expecting another competitive Chelsea team like last year.

mlive.comRevenge isn’t motivator for Chelsea ahead of state semifinal showdown with River Rouge
It’d be easy for Chelsea to be fueled by a narrow loss to River Rouge in last year’s Division 3 state semifinal game, but that’s isn’t the case for the Bulldogs. While Chelsea lost 14-7 to the eventual state champions in a classic contest, getting revenge isn’t what fuels the Bulldogs heading into Saturday’s rematch. “That’s last year’s team,” said Chelsea coach Josh Lucas. “I can’t wait to play Rouge,” said Chelsea senior defensive back Logan Vaughn. “If you want to be the best, you’re going to have to beat the best and right now they’re the defending state champs,” Lucas said.
