Police investigating fire that destroyed 4 Plymouth-Canton school buses
PLYMOUTH, Mich. โ Police are investigating a fire at the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Transportation yard off Lilly Road overnight Saturday. The buses were set to be decommissioned from the fleet, so the damage will not affect the bus schedule and students will not be impacted in any way, but police are still looking for those responsible for the fire that engulfed and destroyed four school buses. Who would want to set fire to not just one but four buses at the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Transportation yard? The fire seemed to have started sometime Saturday night and police are looking for the people responsible for the potential arson. The only children utilizing the vehicles as a mode of transportation to school were elementary children who are learning on a hybrid set up of in-person and virtual-learning.

HARRISON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Sydney Parham, a 26-year-old woman from Fraser, was charged with arson in connection to a Wednesday Harrison Township vehicle fire. According to authorities, Macomb County Sheriffโs deputies were dispatched at about 8 a.m. to the San Remo Villa Apartment complex on Union Lake Road on reports of a vehicle fire. Harrison Township Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Police said they located Parham in a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Parham was taken into custody, checked out medically, and lodged at the Macomb County Jail.

Surveillance video from the scene captured an unknown man throwing two DIY fire bombs at the back of the house before fleeing the scene. Police describe the suspect as Black man about 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and blue shoes. Authorities seek suspect in suspicious Ypsilanti Township school fire
YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. The Washtenaw County Sheriffs Office is looking for help identifying someone wanted in connection to a suspicious Ypsilanti Township fire Wednesday. According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to Ford Elementary School on Clark Road just after 8:30 p.m. and, upon arrival, found the building on fire. The Washtenaw County Sheriffs Office provided photos of someone wanted for questioning in the incident. DETROIT Police took two men in for questioning Thursday after the bodies of three men and an unidentified pet were found in a burned house on Detroits east side. ORIGINAL STORY: 3 men found dead in house fire on Helen Street in Detroit; 2 arrestedPolice said they are investigating the incident as a potential homicide and are unsure if the men inside died before the fire started. Police said the fire could have started in the living room and could have been an arson to cover up the cause of death of the men inside. Deputy Commissioner David Fornell of the Detroit fire department said the bodies inside were so badly burned that they couldnt be recognized, but neighbors believe the man -- known by most as Greedy -- whos lived there for seven years was inside. DETROIT Police are questioning two men about a house fire early Wednesday morning on Detroits east side. Neighbors were startled out of their sleep to the sounds of a house explosion. Police say the suspects were arrested on unrelated warrants but theyre still being questioned. Neighbors claim to have heard gunshots before the explosion and saw a person fleeing the scene after the explosion. Police said the next step is identifying the bodies and finding out how they died before they can potentially press charges on the men taken into custody.
Ferndale man charged after allegedly starting fires at town homes under construction
FERNDALE, Mich. โ A Ferndale man is facing charges after he allegedly started multiple fires at town homes that are under construction. Police said David Hayes, 34, started three small fires in an unoccupied town home. Officials believe the fires extinguished on their own. He is charged third-degree arson. Hayes is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
15-year-old boy suffers serious burns after starting Pontiac house on fire
PONTIAC, Mich. โ A 15-year-old boy suffered serious burns from a fire he started Wednesday in Pontiac. Part of the siding was charred, and there was a gas can and plastic trash can placed against the house, authorities said. Paramedics were on the scene treating burns on the lower part of the boyโs body. The boyโs grandfather, who was in the house, said the boy ran inside with his pants on fire. The grandfather told deputies that the boy has โanger issuesโ and often โsets things on fireโ when angry.
Man charged in Detroit arson that killed womanโs pet dog
DETROIT โ Marion Scruggs, 39, was charged Sunday in connection with the arson of a Detroit home that killed a dog. According to authorities, just before 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 20, fire crews were called to a home in the 17100 block of Trinity Street. Police said authorities tried to revive the the unconscious dog, but it did not survive. Police believe the woman in the home had an argument with Scruggs and he deliberately set fire to the womanโs home. Scruggs was charged with second degree arson and second degree killing/torturing of an animal.
Detroit police seek person of interest in connection with pickup truck arson
DETROIT โ Detroit police are looking for a person who may have information about an arson after a pickup truck was set on fire on the cityโs west side in September. Police said a man was seen exiting a 2018 Ford F-150 that was parked in the 9200 block of Freeland Street about 4:10 a.m. on Sept. 25. Investigators want to talk to the man seen leaving the truck. He was last seen walking north on Freeland, wearing a red sweatshirt with a black Nike logo and gray sweatpants. Prosecutor: No charges in connection with fire that destroyed Detroit Heidelberg Project house
DETROIT โ The Wayne County Prosecutor denied to issue charges in connection with a fire Sept. 23 at Detroitโs Heidelberg Project, citing a lack of evidence. Fire ripped through a Heidelberg Project house at the corner of Heidelberg and Mount Elliott streets. The public art installment on the cityโs east side has fallen victim to arson on numerous occasions since it was started in 1998 by artist Tyree Guyton. A 49-year-old woman had been arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant. There wasnโt enough evidence to prove she set the fire.
Large flag mounted on New Baltimore residentโs home set on fire, police say
NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. โ Police are investigating after a large flag mounted to the front of a New Baltimore residentโs home was set on fire, according to authorities. New Baltimore police received the call around 8:25 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 36500 block of St. Clair Drive. A homeowner told police someone had set a large nylon flag on fire while it was mounted to the front of the home. He stopped, got out of his car, pulled the burning flag down and extinguished the flames, according to authorities. Officers believe the suspect might have gotten into a waiting vehicle at that location.
