Michigan governor declares State of Emergency for Wayne County due to impact of severe floods
On Saturday, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an order declaring a state of emergency in Wayne County to help address threats to public health and safety related to heavy rainfall, which resulted in widespread flooding, power outages, flooded roadways, stranded motorists, flooding of homes, and displaced residents.
High winds bring potential for more power outages today in SE Michigan
Another windy day in Southeast Michigan means another chance of power outages. IMPORTANT PERSPECTIVE: On Sunday, we had gusts between 50 and 60 mph, which caused around 250,000 power outages. Today’s wind won’t be that strong, but still could bring down a few limbs. As of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, just under 3,000 customers were without power, according to DTE Energy’s outage center. METRO DETROIT – Strong winds Sunday brought down trees and caused mass power outages across Metro Detroit. The outages are spread across Metro Detroit with a large number near West Bloomfield. Ryan Stow, with DTE, said there have been about 1,000 downed power lines across Metro Detroit. DTE crews are assessing damage, and making repairs and restoring power, in areas where it is safe to do so.

Power outages reported in SE Michigan on first day of virtual school
There are several thousand people without power Tuesday morning in southeastern Michigan, further complicating the virtual start to the school year for families. DTE Energy is reporting about 8,500 customers without power. There is a cluster of outages in the Auburn Hills and southeast Livonia areas. Storms have been rolling through the region.

DETROIT – Storms have knocked out power to thousands in Southeast Michigan on Friday, and more bad weather is expected through the evening. As of 10:51 p.m., around 4,860 DTE Energy customers were without power. DTE reported 78 crews in the field. A Flood Warning is in effect for Wayne County, Eastern Oakland County and Macomb County until 4 p.m. on Friday. We are under a Slight Risk for Severe Storms today, and that will be most likely through the late afternoon and evening.
Intense rain overnight causes flooding across Metro Detroit
ROYAL OAK, Mich. Metro Detroit saw its share of rain, fallen trees, power outages and flooding overnight. Residents in Royal Oak near 13 Mile Road and Main Street were reliving a nightmare -- all their basements flooded six years ago in a historic flooding and had to deal with flooding again Friday morning. Residents said they are considering legal action against the city due to the repeated flooding. Multiple cars were seen stranded in flooded streets.
