Five shots fired into Troy hotel room with 4 teens inside, police say
TROY, Mich. โ Police are looking for two suspects believed to have fired shots into a Troy hotel room early Saturday morning. Troy police say that at about 4 a.m. Saturday, five shots were fired through a sliding glass door and into a hotel room at the Hawthorn Suites. At that time, there were four teenagers from Roseville and Detroit celebrating a sweet 16 birthday party inside the room, police said. Police say two suspects were seen running from the scene of the shooting. They are described as Black males between the ages of 18 and 22 years old with medium heights and medium builds.

Metal stake, wooden cutout, โno trespassingโ sign, cigarette thrown during Troy neighbors' dispute
TROY, Mich. โ Troy police said a metal stake, a wooden cutout, a โno trespassingโ sign and a cigarette were all thrown during an argument between neighbors about their property line. Police said the 58-year-old man then picked up the wooden cutout and started pushing into the other manโs stomach. The other man grabbed the cutout, so the 58-year-old picked up the metal stake, according to officials. He swung the metal stake at the neighbors, striking the woman in her left wrist and thumb, police said. He also put a hole through the wooden cutout with the metal stake while the other man was holding the cutout, authorities said.
Troy police investigate shots fired in Somerset Parking lot

Troy police investigate drive-by shooting that targeted home
TROY, Mich. โ Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that happened at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday in the 100 block of Scottsdale in Troy. At least nine bullet holes were found at the targeted home. No one was injured in the shooting, according to police. Police believe one of the residents of the home was targeted and the event was not random. Taylor man charged after police say he had gun at Somerset Collection
TROY, Mich. โ A Taylor man was arrested and charged after a report of a possible assault involving a gun at the Somerset Collection in Troy. Michael Deonte James, 21, of Taylor, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearm and possession of a firearm. Troy police responded at about 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 2 to a possible assault in the Nordstrom store. James was arraigned on Oct. 3 and was issued a $50,000 cash/surety bond. Police are still investigating the incident at Somerset Collection.
Georgia man accused of passing counterfeit $100 bills arrested in Oakland County
TROY, Mich. โ A Georgia man was arrested last week for allegedly paying with counterfeit bills at numerous stores in Troy. According to Troy police, at about 6:41 p.m. on Sept. 23 the 28-year-old man reportedly passed a counterfeit $100 bill at Beyond Juice. After locating the suspect in the parking lot, officers conducted a traffic stop as he left the property. Police say the man denied passing any counterfeit bills or even being at the mall during his interview with officers. During the traffic stop, police say that multiple other stores reported counterfeit bills being used by the same subject.

LIVONIA, Mich. Several women stepped forward on Wednesday and said their former middle school teacher sexually abused them. The women said the teacher sent them explicit images and videos of himself when they were students at Clarenceville Middle School in Livonia. Bailey said the teacher had ties with several schools and youth programs throughout the Metro Detroit area. Multiple home invasions appear to target elderly residents in Troy, police say
TROY, Mich. Police are investigating a string of home invasions on Wednesday that appear to target elderly victims. Troy police say that two home invasions and one attempted home invasion occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The first home invasion occurred at about 12:53 p.m. in the 2300 block of Chesapeake Court. The second home invasion occurred at 1:16 p.m. in the 1400 block of Key West Drive. An attempted home invasion occurred at 12:36 p.m. i the 1300 block of Boyd Street.
Troy man pulls out shotgun during argument with neighbor over loud party, police say
TROY, Mich. A drunken Troy man pulled out and racked a shotgun after he was told to go back inside and mind his own business during an argument with a 20-year-old about a loud party, police said. Troy officers were called around 9:40 p.m. Friday to the area of 6800 Dublin Fair Road for reports of a loud party. While officers investigated the situation, they heard a loud argument between a 20-year-old Bloomfield Hills man at the party and Christopher Hoggarth, according to authorities. The 20-year-old man was yelling at Hoggarth to go back in his house and to mind his own business, authorities said. When officers ordered him to drop the gun, he ignored them and slowly retreated into his house, according to authorities.
2 arrested in Somerset Mall carjacking
TROY, Mich. โ Two people are in police custody after allegedly hijacking a vehicle outside of Somerset Mall on Thursday morning. Police say at about 7:30 a.m. two males were approached by four people in a silver Nissan when exiting the mall. Two suspects took the victimsโ 2016 black Dodge Charger and fled the scene while the other two suspects fled the scene in the Nissan. A black 2016 Dodge Charger was hijacked from two people at Somerset Mall on the morning of July 23, 2020. The two suspects from Tennessee are being housed at the Jackson County Jail and are expected to be arraigned soon.
Angry McDonaldโs customers in Troy yell slurs, throw salad, punch employee
The incident happened at 1:53 p.m. March 9 at the McDonaldโs restaurant at 36895 Dequindre Road in Troy, according to authorities. A group of four customers got angry when their order wasnโt delivered to their table, police said. One of the customers began to yell racism slurs toward the employees, and another threw a salad, striking one of the employees, according to officials. When they left the restaurant, an employee tried to look at their license plate, officials said. The group continue to yell racial slurs at the employees as they drove off in the Dodge Caravan, police said.
Man caught taking โupskirtโ picture of girl above him on escalator at Somerset in Troy, police say
TROY, Mich. โ Troy police said they arrested a man who was caught taking โupskirtโ pictures of a girl who was standing above him on an escalator at the Somerset Collection. Kristopher Murray, 36, of Clinton Township, was seen following a 16-year-old girl on an escalator, taking pictures of her, according to police. The girl told police she didnโt know she was being photographed, but she did notice someone standing close by, according to authorities. Murray is charged with capturing an image of an unclothed person, a five-year felony, and using a computer to commit a crime, a seven-year felony. Murray is scheduled to return to 52-4 District Court in Troy at 8:30 a.m. March 2.
2 killed in Sunday morning Troy crash
TROY, Mich. โ Troy Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened on southbound I-75 north of 14 Mile Road south of E. Maple Road Sunday morning. Troy police were notified by Madison Heights police that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-75 north of Twelve Mile Road. Troy officers responded to the area where a serious crash involving the wrong way driver and a second vehicle that had been southbound on I-75 took place. Southbound I-75 was closed for more than five hours to complete the investigation. Troy police say it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
