4 Detroit firefighters involved in crash released from hospital, 50-year-old woman critically injured
Firefighters from Squad 6 were on their way to a high rise fire when they got into a car crash at East Forest and McClellan. The fire truck and a Mercedes collided, the truck then hit a utility pole bringing it down on an SUV with the fire truck ultimately coming to a stop in the side of a house.

The light had just turned green and Ellerbee started to accelerate. He then spotted a woman chasing an SUV going in reverse on the road. โShe came close to getting hit by her own car,โ Ellerbee said. AdAs the woman tried desperately to get back in her truck, other drivers almost slammed into her. โA couple of cars kept going, trying to to swerve past because at first it looked like a chaotic scene.

The Border Patrol said its agents were not pursuing the vehicle before the wreck. AdA pandemic-related measure that allows the Border Patrol to expel people without an opportunity to seek asylum potentially leads some to try to evade authorities instead of surrendering, sometimes with fatal consequences.
California crash kills 13 of 25 people crammed into SUV

Chief of Cherokee Nation calls on Jeep to stop using tribeโs name

In a recent interview the chief of the Cherokee Nation says it should be time for a change and that comes as the company is set to roll out the next generation of the SUV. SUV crashes into Grosse Pointe Woods store
GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. โ A black SUV crashed into a wine shop Tuesday night in Grosse Pointe Woods. Officials said that just before 8 p.m., the SUV veered off Mack Avenue, hitting small trees and parking meters before crashing into the front entrance of Merchantโs Fine Wine & Spirits. Irene, who lives nearby, said she stops into the store often and could not believe the damage done to the building. โI heard a bomb (sound) but I didnโt know if itโs in here or next door,โ she said. โEverybody loves the store.โGrosse Pointe Woods police are still investigating.
Hyundai warns owners to park outside, recalls 180,000 SUVs
DETROIT โ For the second time this month, Hyundai is telling some SUV owners to park outdoors because an electrical short in a computer could cause vehicles to catch fire. The Korean automaker is recalling about 180,000 Tucson SUVs in the U.S. from 2019 through 2021 to fix the problem. Hyundai says on Friday that it knows of a dozen engine fires caused by the problem but no injuries. In April of 2019, NHTSA opened two new investigations into fires involving Hyundai and Kia vehicles after getting complaints of more than 3,100 fires and 103 injuries. NHTSA had previously said it would incorporate the noncrash fires into a 2017 investigation that examined recalls of Hyundai and Kia vehicles for engine failures.
Woman killed in altercation on Plymouth Road in Detroit
DETROIT โ A 58-year-old woman died Saturday night amid an altercation that turned physical on Detroitโs west side. A preliminary investigation by Detroit police indicated that the victim accompanied a 55-year-old man, who was involved in a verbal altercation with another man in the 14600 block of Plymouth Road. Police said the second man allegedly entered his vehicle and struck the 55-year-old manโs Ford Taurus. The 58-year-old woman was standing behind the Taurus at the time and was struck by the vehicle. Oakland County Sheriffโs patrol car struck by driver operating while intoxicated
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. โ The driver of a red Chevrolet SUV was taken into custody Thursday morning after colliding with an Oakland County Sheriffโs vehicle. According to authorities, the incident happened just after 5 a.m. when a deputy driving northbound on Dixie Highway was struck by an southbound SUV that appeared to be waiting to turn in to a gas station. Police said the SUV abruptly came into the deputyโs lane of travel, who evaded a head-on collision, but was still struck by the SUV. The patrol vehicle sustained major damage to the driver side front and was not drive-able and the Chevrolet SUV had damage to the driver side front panel. Police said the driver of the Chevrolet SUV was determined to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated and after an OWI blood draw was completed, the driver of the SUV was lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
Womanโs body found in SUV on Detroitโs west side, police investigating as a possible murder
DETROIT โ Police are investigating the possible murder of a woman on Detroitโs west side. Her body was found at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday in a white SUV in the 1700 block of Wabash Street, near Michigan Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard. Pontiac SUV, motorcycle collision puts 11-year-old boy in critical condition
PONTIAC, Mich. An 11-year-old boy was found unresponsive by Oakland County Sheriffs deputies and rushed to a hospital Saturday night after a two-vehicle collision. According to authorities, deputies and Waterford fire crews arrived were called to the intersection of Melrose and Baltimore avenues on report of a motorcycle and SUV collision. The driver of the SUV, an 18-year-old man told police he was traveling southbound on Melrose Avenue when a motorcycle on Baltimore Avenue ignored a stop sign and collided with his vehicle. Police said the 11-year-old boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was found in the road unresponsive with head trauma. He was rushed to Beaumont Royal Oak Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Ford revives Bronco brand, aims at Jeeps big off-road sales
Later this month the company will introduce two new off-road vehicles, a Ranger pickup-sized Bronco that will come in two- and four-door versions, and the smaller Escape-sized Bronco Sport, both aimed at taking sales from Fiat Chryslers top brand. Although the new Broncos will share some parts with other Ford vehicles, theyve got beefed up suspensions and were designed for off-road use, the company said. Specific details of the vehicles wont be released until the July 13 event. If the Bronco is able to dent sales of the Grand Cherokee, it probably wont be for long, Kelleher said. She said the coronavirus pandemic may increase the size of the market for off-road vehicles with more people now opting to take road trips and travel outdoors by vehicle.
Vehicle slams into Westland house; driver flees on foot
WESTLAND, Mich. โ A vehicle slammed into a house Tuesday morning near Henry Ruff Road and Avondale Street in Westland. More: Westland NewsThe homeowner said he was on his couch watching TV when he heard the tires. He said no one inside the home was hurt. The driver, however, was covered in blood and offered to give him money so he wouldnโt call police, the homeowner said. The driver then fled the area on foot.
Officials search for driver of SUV that struck bicyclist on Michigan Avenue
DETROIT โ Police are searching for the driver of an SUV that struck a bicyclist on Michigan Avenue. A man was riding his bicycle on Michigan Avenue when he was hit by a gray GMC suburban, according to authorities. Police said the SUV pulled into a gas station after the collision. The driver got out to look at the scene and then fled, officials said. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
