Michigan Department of Transportation officials said the two right lanes will be off-limits to southbound U.S. 23 traffic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 25-26. During the project, Joy Road traffic is being detoured via Gleaner Hall, Whitmore Lake and Warren roads. MDOT officials advise drivers to seek alternate routes during the bridge maintenance project, which they say will help extend the life of the structure. 6-year-old killed, other children injured in Detroit crash

DETROIT -- A 6-year-old boy was killed Monday night when he was ejected from a vehicle that crashed into another car in Detroit at the intersection of Joy Road and Artesian. The crash caused the white Yukon to rollover and eject the 6-year-old from the vehicle, killing him. Three other children ages 2, 3 and 7 were also riding in the white Yukon and were injured in the crash along with female driver. The male driver of the black Yukon was injured as well, but police say the children and the drivers are expected to recover. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Detroit Police Department Fatal Squad Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up.
