U.S. 23 lanes near Ann Arbor closing for bridge maintenance project
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - Bridge maintenance on U.S. 23 just north of Ann Arbor will close lanes on the major commuter route for two days. Michigan Department of Transportation officials said the two right lanes will be off-limits to southbound U.S. 23 traffic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 25-26. During the project, Joy Road traffic is being detoured via Gleaner Hall, Whitmore Lake and Warren roads. MDOT officials advise drivers to seek alternate routes during the bridge maintenance project, which they say will help extend the life of the structure. ANN ARBOR, MI — Ann Arbor officials have their sights set on protecting another 246 acres of farmland outside the city. All three are currently used to grow corn, soybeans and hay, which is standard for most Ann Arbor greenbelt properties, said said Remy Long, the city’s greenbelt program manager. The program has helped protect thousands of acres of farmland and open space in rural township areas outside the city. 2 women killed in crash at Joy Road, Trinity Street in Detroit
DETROIT – Two women were killed Monday morning when their vehicle struck a utility pole at Joy Road and Trinity Street in Detroit. Police said the women were traveling in a 2005 Saab when the vehicle left the road and hit the pole. It’s unclear what caused this deadly crash. No other injuries have been reported. It remains under investigation.

6-year-old killed, other children injured in Detroit crash
DETROIT -- A 6-year-old boy was killed Monday night when he was ejected from a vehicle that crashed into another car in Detroit at the intersection of Joy Road and Artesian. The crash caused the white Yukon to rollover and eject the 6-year-old from the vehicle, killing him. Three other children ages 2, 3 and 7 were also riding in the white Yukon and were injured in the crash along with female driver. The male driver of the black Yukon was injured as well, but police say the children and the drivers are expected to recover.
