Man charged in series of Troy home invasions
Troy police say their suspect got into four homes and robbed them recently. DโMario Darrell Thornton, 40, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon after being arrested Sunday morning and held on a $45,000 bond. Joshua Jones from the Troy Police Department told Local 4 News officers first suspected Thornton after the first home invasion a week ago in the neighborhood near Somerset collection. Immediately detectives went to work and followed Thornton to a Troy neighborhood at Livernois and Big Beaver Saturday night. They say he went to work robbing two homes.

TROY, Mich. โ Police are investigating after a man was found stabbed to death outside a Belle Tire in Troy. Police were called to the parking lot of a Belle Tire at 4966 Rochester Road in Troy at around 7 a.m. on Monday. Employees arriving for work found the man lying next to the front entrance of the building. Police said it is unknown how long he was outside, but his body was found covered in snow. A knife was found in the parking lot but itโs unclear if that is the knife that was used in the stabbing, police said.
Five shots fired into Troy hotel room with 4 teens inside, police say
TROY, Mich. โ Police are looking for two suspects believed to have fired shots into a Troy hotel room early Saturday morning. Troy police say that at about 4 a.m. Saturday, five shots were fired through a sliding glass door and into a hotel room at the Hawthorn Suites. At that time, there were four teenagers from Roseville and Detroit celebrating a sweet 16 birthday party inside the room, police said. Police say two suspects were seen running from the scene of the shooting. They are described as Black males between the ages of 18 and 22 years old with medium heights and medium builds.

81-year-old carjacked by Warren woman at Somerset Collection
TROY, Mich. โ An 81-year-old woman was carjacked at Somerset Collection today, Troy police say. According to Troy police, the incident happened at around 9 a.m. Monday while the victim was in her 2017 Buick Regal on the north side of Somerset Collection. Police say she was then approached by the 29-year-old carjacker from Warren who demanded the vehicle. The incident happened before the mall opened. Other crime related incidents have taken place at the Somerset Collection this year.

TROY, Mich. โ Troy police said a metal stake, a wooden cutout, a โno trespassingโ sign and a cigarette were all thrown during an argument between neighbors about their property line. Police said the 58-year-old man then picked up the wooden cutout and started pushing into the other manโs stomach. The other man grabbed the cutout, so the 58-year-old picked up the metal stake, according to officials. He swung the metal stake at the neighbors, striking the woman in her left wrist and thumb, police said. He also put a hole through the wooden cutout with the metal stake while the other man was holding the cutout, authorities said.

Taylor man charged after police say he had gun at Somerset Collection
TROY, Mich. โ A Taylor man was arrested and charged after a report of a possible assault involving a gun at the Somerset Collection in Troy. Michael Deonte James, 21, of Taylor, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearm and possession of a firearm. Troy police responded at about 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 2 to a possible assault in the Nordstrom store. James was arraigned on Oct. 3 and was issued a $50,000 cash/surety bond. Police are still investigating the incident at Somerset Collection.
Officers punched in the face by Detroit man suspected of stealing from Macyโs at Somerset Collection
TROY, Mich โ Two Troy police officers were physically abused by a Detroit man suspected of stealing from Macyโs at the Somerset Collection. On Sunday at around 2:20 p.m. officers were called to the Macyโs store over a retail fraud suspect not cooperating with employees. Store employees reportedly observed the 32-year-old Detroit man conceal merchandise and then attempt to leave the store without paying. When officers tried to take the man into custody, he punched one of the officers in the face with a closed fist. Another officer assisted and the suspect also punched him in the face.
Georgia man accused of passing counterfeit $100 bills arrested in Oakland County
TROY, Mich. โ A Georgia man was arrested last week for allegedly paying with counterfeit bills at numerous stores in Troy. According to Troy police, at about 6:41 p.m. on Sept. 23 the 28-year-old man reportedly passed a counterfeit $100 bill at Beyond Juice. After locating the suspect in the parking lot, officers conducted a traffic stop as he left the property. Police say the man denied passing any counterfeit bills or even being at the mall during his interview with officers. During the traffic stop, police say that multiple other stores reported counterfeit bills being used by the same subject.

Police seek 2 in connection to armed robbery at Troy Chipotle restaurant
TROY, Mich. โ Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Monday night at a Chipotle restaurant in Troy. Police described one suspect as between 6 feet to 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds. He was wearing a blacked hooded sweatshirt, a red ski mask, black gloves, black pants and was armed with a handgun. Police described the other suspect as between 6 feet, 1 inch to 6 feet, 2 inches and weighing about 170 pounds. Troy police say thieves are targeting elderly in utility worker impersonation scam
TROY, Mich. Police said a man and woman have been going from home to home impersonating workers from the water company in Troy. As soon as theyre let inside, they turn to thieves, stealing anything valuable they can get their hands on. TROY, Mich. Police are investigating a string of home invasions on Wednesday that appear to target elderly victims. Troy police say that two home invasions and one attempted home invasion occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The first home invasion occurred at about 12:53 p.m. in the 2300 block of Chesapeake Court. The second home invasion occurred at 1:16 p.m. in the 1400 block of Key West Drive. An attempted home invasion occurred at 12:36 p.m. i the 1300 block of Boyd Street.
Troy man pulls out shotgun during argument with neighbor over loud party, police say
TROY, Mich. A drunken Troy man pulled out and racked a shotgun after he was told to go back inside and mind his own business during an argument with a 20-year-old about a loud party, police said. Troy officers were called around 9:40 p.m. Friday to the area of 6800 Dublin Fair Road for reports of a loud party. While officers investigated the situation, they heard a loud argument between a 20-year-old Bloomfield Hills man at the party and Christopher Hoggarth, according to authorities. The 20-year-old man was yelling at Hoggarth to go back in his house and to mind his own business, authorities said. When officers ordered him to drop the gun, he ignored them and slowly retreated into his house, according to authorities.
Call for fire alarm leads Troy officers to bloody scene, home invasion and arson suspect
They arrived on scene and found a bloody scene on an apartment deck, including a large, bloody kitchen knife, and an open door and a screen ripped off. A trail of blood led to a nearby apartment building where officers discovered blood and broken glass that led to an open apartment, where the suspect was ultimately located. Officers were met by a screaming, nude man, covered in blood with a towel wrapped around one of his hands. Officers forced the door to the apartment open, and attempted to handcuff the man. During the investigation on scene, Troy dispatch received one call about a nude man walking around the area and acting strangely.
2 arrested in Somerset Mall carjacking
TROY, Mich. โ Two people are in police custody after allegedly hijacking a vehicle outside of Somerset Mall on Thursday morning. Police say at about 7:30 a.m. two males were approached by four people in a silver Nissan when exiting the mall. Two suspects took the victimsโ 2016 black Dodge Charger and fled the scene while the other two suspects fled the scene in the Nissan. A black 2016 Dodge Charger was hijacked from two people at Somerset Mall on the morning of July 23, 2020. The two suspects from Tennessee are being housed at the Jackson County Jail and are expected to be arraigned soon.
Angry McDonaldโs customers in Troy yell slurs, throw salad, punch employee
The incident happened at 1:53 p.m. March 9 at the McDonaldโs restaurant at 36895 Dequindre Road in Troy, according to authorities. A group of four customers got angry when their order wasnโt delivered to their table, police said. One of the customers began to yell racism slurs toward the employees, and another threw a salad, striking one of the employees, according to officials. When they left the restaurant, an employee tried to look at their license plate, officials said. The group continue to yell racial slurs at the employees as they drove off in the Dodge Caravan, police said.
Fake IRS 'MoneyPak' scam targets metro Detroit residents

She said someone called claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service and told her she was being audited. The caller instructed Mary to drive to the store and purchase Green Dot MoneyPak cards. Luis Garcia of the Internal Revenue Service told Ruth to the Rescue the government agency never collects on a Green Dot credit card or wire transfer. 1) No legitimate business is going to call you and pressure you to pay with Green Dot MoneyPak or any other method of payment that's difficult to trace.
