WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- Police have located a Dexter teenager they believe was groomed on social media. An alert was issued after Ea Kuhr, 17, on Feb. 1, after they intentionally avoided their family picking them up from Dexter High School that day. Kuhr has since been located and is now safe, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2. “Details are limited at this time but Ea is safe,” the office wrote in an announcement on Facebook. Ea Kuhr, 17, was reported missing and endangered after they intentionally avoided their family picking them up from Dexter High School Wednesday, Feb. 1, and left to meet an unknown person, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. At this time it is believed Kuhr left of their own free will, police said. Kuhr was last seen leaving Dexter High School walking towards Shield Road while wearing light gray sweat pants, a gray backpack, white tennis shoes and a dark hooded sweatshirt. WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - An intersection northeast of Dexter on North Territorial Road will look very different by the end of the year. The junction of North Territorial and Webster Church roads, in northern Washtenaw County, is set for a $1.4-million safety improvement project during the upcoming construction season, Washtenaw County Road Commission officials said. Meanwhile, Webster Church Road will close to all traffic between Lori Lynn Lane and Ralaric Drive, immediately to the north and south of the North Territorial intersection. When the project wraps up, both Webster Church and North Territorial roads will have left turn lanes at the intersection, Road Commission Assistant Director of Engineering Brent Schlack said during the presentation. North Territorial will stay open during that project, with daytime lane closures and flagging while it occurs sometime over the summer.

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – A Dexter man and his dog were killed Saturday morning in a fiery crash. Crews arrived to find a man and dog dead inside the burning vehicle. The driver was identified as Karl Weber, 33, of Dexter, police said. The crash investigation indicated Weber’s vehicle left the roadway and crashed off the side of the road before catching fire. DEXTER, MI -- The fourth-annual Dexter Ice Festival attracted many friends and families from both near and far. More than 80 ice sculptures were on display at the event. Local businesses in Dexter sponsored Plymouth-based Ice Dreams Sculptures to create a sculpture in each of their names. Six were saved for live demonstrations during the festival so attendees could watch the rigorous sculpting process. “There was a working birdfeeder that actually had birdseed in the ice sculpture,” Logan said.

He finished his prep career with a 19-9 record and set the school’s single-season records for passing yards (2816), completions (182) and TD passes (39) as a junior. He then set individual game records for passing yards (507) and TD passes (7) against Jackson and completions (36) versus Livonia Churchill during his senior year with Dexter in 2020. For his career as a Dreadnaught, Parachek completed 518-of-826 passes for 7,561 yards and 90 touchdowns, while also rushing for 14 touchdowns. At the time of his graduation, Parachek ranked sixth all-time in TD passes, seventh all-time in completions and 11th all-time in passing yards in Michigan high school football history.

And he did, running Cousins Heritage Inn, a successful and nationally-recognized restaurant for almost two decades alongside his wife Pat. That accomplishment doesn’t even top the list of a lifetime of community involvement for Cousins, an environmentalist and longtime local elected official in Dexter who died on Dec. 9. From the classroom to the dining roomCousins, an Indiana native, came to Dexter to teach school in 1963 and never left. The Rotary Club, an organization which Cousins helped found in Dexter, is accepting donations for a scholarship in his honor.

Still, a dispute with neighbors over access from a planned four-lane entrance boulevard from Baker Road that has dogged the project for months is still unresolved. Alan Greene, an attorney representing developers, addressed the planning commission, saying the sewer connection wasn’t technically feasible and developers had no need to buy the neighbors’ property. The commission finally voted 4-2 to recommend approval of the plans to the township board, who will make the final decision on them. Commissioners Kim Moore, who voted against preliminary approval for the project in February, and Jeff Human opposed advancing it. The project will next go before the township board for final consideration and approval.

Isaiah Matthew Hopkins waived preliminary examination Tuesday, Nov. 22, sending his case to the Washtenaw County Trial Court for further court proceedings, records show. Related: Hearing delayed for Dexter man accused of exposing himself on hiking trailHopkins, 37, was arraigned June 21 on one felony count of aggravated indecent exposure for an incident that happened on the Border-to-Border Trail in Dexter Township. The single charge he currently faces stems from an incident that occurred June 19 on the Border-to-Border Trail in Dexter Township. Following Hopkins’ arrest, detectives were able to link him to several previous indecent exposure cases and Dexter-area home invasions, police said.

The 2-star recruit has racked up nearly 100 tackles with five interceptions and has helped Dexter advance to the state semifinals for the first time in program history. Salaman was the owner and sole oral surgeon at Dexter Oral Surgery where he practiced a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from wisdom tooth removal, corrective jaw surgery, cosmetic procedures and the management of tumors and pathology, according to his biography. Prior to opening shop in Dexter, Salamen worked for 9 years in Chicago on his own private dental practice. Kadry worked as an interior designer with her own company, Manal Kadry Design Collective.

Zingerman’s Cornman Farms to host weekly Pie & Mash pop-up series in March
Zingerman's Cornman Farms will offer its annual Pie & Mash Pop-Up Shop every Wednesday in March. DEXTER, MIch. – Every Wednesday in March, Ann Arbor foodies can pick up savory pies from the fifth annual Pie & Mash Pop-Up Shop at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms. From 4:30 to 7 p.m., the pop-up will offer $19 meals created by Cornman Farms executive chef and managing partner, Kieron Hales. Each meal includes a savory handmade pie, mashed potatoes, a seasonal vegetable and Devon fudge, which Hales has whipped up with a recipe from his hometown. Meals must be pre-ordered through the Zingerman’s Cornman Farms website for pick up at the Dexter event venue, said the release.
