Latest school shooting in Texas causes Washtenaw County schools to reinforce safety plans
The difference a decade later, Sorkin said, is that she found herself explaining this school shooting to two of her three young children who are now attending Dexter Community Schools. Sorkin first found herself explaining what a school shooting was to her children after the shooting in Oxford High School left four people dead in December. The district works with Ann Arbor Police, Pittsfield Township Public Safety, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security to plan and practice response protocols, Swift said. “There will be time following today to deepen our resolve and take elevated action in our collective and continued fight to prioritize school safety in Michigan and across this country. mlive.comMeet the All-SEC girls soccer teams for 2022
As the Michigan girls high school soccer postseason kicks off this week, players from the Southeastern Conference have received awards for the efforts they put forth during the regular season. The all-conference teams for the SEC-White and SEC-Red were announced Wednesday afternoon, which highlighted the top players in 2022. Ann Arbor Skyline, Pinckney and Chelsea each led the way with four first-team selections. Skyline won the SEC-Red with a 12-2 league record and Pinckney claimed the SEC-White at 8-0-2. The teams were selected by coaches in the SEC.
mlive.comNo-hitter and comeback win puts Dexter baseball in control of SEC-Red title race
Dexter now leads the SEC-Red with a one-game edge over Monroe and is two games ahead of Saline with single games against both teams remaining this week. Dexter’s two runs came off an error and a walk to give Novara enough support to secure the sweep. Dexter claimed the SEC-White title last season and has two games remaining to win the SEC-Red crown. The Dreadnaughts (20-9, 15-4 SEC-Red) will face Saline in the final game of the series on Wednesday and will take on Monroe in a single game on Friday. The Dreadnaughts can clinch the title with wins over Saline and Monroe, or they could have Monroe lose to Ann Arbor Pioneer on Wednesday and still win the league with a victory over Saline.
