WARREN, Mich. โ Macomb County is ramping up its efforts to get more people vaccinated for COVID-19. It is the fourth county-affiliated COVID vaccination site in Macomb County. Police investigate violent crash in I-94 construction zone in Detroit
DETROIT โ Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash Monday at a construction zone on westbound Interstate 94 in Detroit near Van Dyke Avenue. Officials said the driver in a Dodge Challenger was believed to be traveling more than 100 miles per hour before hitting a Chevy Malibu and a utility pole, landing upside down. Macomb County offers new COVID-19 vaccination site for seniors 60 and older
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. โ Through a partnership with SMART, Macomb County is offering a new vaccination location in Sterling Heights. The vaccination site is at the Sterling Heights Senior Center on Utica Road, between Schoenherr and Van Dyke roads. Itโs why the Macomb County Health Department partnered with SMART to help distribute the coronavirus vaccine. Macomb County executive Mark Hackel said the new site is currently dedicated to vaccinating Macomb County residents and workers who are 60-years-old and older. Detroit police: Man falls asleep driving, strikes police cruiser
DETROIT โ A collision on Detroitโs east side sent two police officers to the hospital Saturday night. According to authorities, a man was driving northbound on Gratiot Avenue near Van Dyke when his vehicle struck a Detroit Police Department cruiser that was in the turn lane, before hitting the side of a building. Police said they believe the driver fell asleep while driving home from work. The two police officers that were in the cruiser checked on the driver before being taken to the hospital. Fire on Detroitโs east side kills 1, injures 4
DETROIT โ A fire at a group home on Detroitโs east side killed one man and injured four others Friday morning. It happened on Burns Avenue, near I-94 and Van Dyke Avenue. The group home was significantly damaged and the building might be a total loss. The other four men were rushed to a hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Father, 12-year-old daughter killed in crash in Shelby Township
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 45-year-old Macomb Township man and his 12-year-old daughter were killed in a crash in the area of 21 Mile Road and Van Dyke in Shelby Township. Shelby Township police and fire departments were dispatched at about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday to a crash involving two vehicles. Police said one of the vehicles, a Dodge Ram, was engulfed in flames. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Dodge Ram was traveling northbound on Van Dyke, turning left onto 21 Mile Road when a commercial truck was southbound on Van Dyke, traveling through 21 Mile Road. Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash is asked to contact Traffic Services Bureau Sgt.
Road rage shooting on Detroitโs east side critically injuries 50-year-old man
DETROIT โ Police are investigating a road rage incident on Detroitโs east side Friday that put a 50-year-old man in the hospital with critical injuries. Police said an argument between a 50-year-old man and a 31-year-old man escalated into gunfire being exchanged between the two. Driver in stolen vehicle arrested near I-94, Van Dyke Road in Detroit
DETROIT Michigan State Police arrested a driver who was in a stolen vehicle in Detroit Sunday in the area of Interstate 94 and Van Dyke Road. Two other passengers in the stolen vehicle fled the scene, officials said. Police said a gun reported stolen was located in the vehicle. Michigan State Police arrested a driver in a stolen vehicle in Detroit on Sept. 6, 2020. A handgun reported stolen was also located in the vehicle.

Peterson is described as standing 5 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing 160 pounds and having light brown skin, brown eyes and short auburn colored hair. She was last seen wearing a green and yellow dress and sandals. Peterson is in good physical condition but her family says she has a medical condition. 2 teens, grandmother hurt in freak incident involving art project, microwave parts in Utica
UTICA, Mich. Two teenagers and a grandmother were rushed to nearby hospitals after a freak incident in Utica involving a woodworking art project and microwave parts. Utica police said the incident happened on the Fourth of July outside an apartment building near 21 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue. Utica police Chief Sean Coady said an 18-year-old man has extensive electrical burns to his lungs and is in a medically induced coma. In the Utica case, a father, his son and the sons girlfriend were using a transformer taken out of a microwave. His grandmother also ran over to help and was shocked, officials said.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. โ Employees inside a Sterling Heights AT&T store were tied up during a robbery Tuesday afternoon. Police said it happened just after 3 p.m. at a store on Van Dyke Avenue between 14 Mile and 15 Mile roads. Police said two suspects, a man and a woman, tied the employees up in a backroom. Police are still trying to figure out what the suspects got away with. Police said the robbers fled the scene in a white Pontiac Grand Prix.

22-year-old St. Clair County man seriously injured in single-car crash in Macomb County
BRUCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 22-year-old man is facing life threatening injuries after crashing his car into a tree early Friday morning in Bruce Township. Michigan State Police responded to the crash just after midnight. The scene was at Ebeling Road, east of Van Dyke Avenue. The 22 year old male driver from Capac was entrapped and needed to be extricated by the Bruce/Romeo Fire Department before being transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Child struck by vehicle during walk to school in Center Line, police say
CENTER LINE, Mich. - A child is going to be OK after police said he was struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning on Van Dyke Avenue and Stephens in Center Line. It was more than a close call and is now serving as a warning for drivers, children and their parents. The 11-year-old child, Leinathea Old, was struck just before 7:30 a.m. Amber Fuller was walking to work and heard the thud seven houses down, she said. The driver asked not to be identified and because he has not been ticketed or charged Local 4 will not be identifying him. Motorists are urged to drive slower during school hours, especially when it's dark outside.

CENTER LINE, Mich. - Police were called to a home Sunday evening on Edward Avenue just west of Van Dyke Avenue in Center Line after a woman reported her boyfriend had just killed himself. Upon arriving at the home police say they found a man bleeding and leaning against the front door and a woman bleeding from the face. It appeared the woman was shot several times in the face and neck area. According to police, the victims are identified as a 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman. The woman is in stable condition in the intensive unit.

Macomb County authorities search for missing 89-year-old man
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police are looking for an 89-year-old man who was last seen Saturday afternoon. According to authorities, Charles Askia, from Washington Township, was last seen walking alone at about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Van Dyke Avenue and Stanford Boulevard. Askia does not have a vehicle, and his family believes he doesn't have a phone with him. Construction worker severely injured after being run over by car in Sterling Heights
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - A construction worker was rushed to a hospital after being run over by a car at a job site in Sterling Heights, according to police. The incident happened before 5 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and 14 Mile Road. The 62-year-old construction worker suffered severe injuries to his head and torso. Police said the victim was looking down a manhole in a parking lot when an individual in a car backed up and ran him over. Police said the person in the car stopped immediately.
