Michigan State Police investigating I-94 road rage shooting in Detroit
DETROIT โ A stretch of I-94 was closed down Sunday night due to an investigation into a shooting on the freeway. According to authorities, the victim was driving eastbound on I-94 between Woodward Avenue and I-75 at about 6:45 p.m. when another vehicle performed a brake check before firing shots. Police said the suspect vehicle exited at Van Dyke. Eastbound I-94 between the Lodge Freeway and Woodward Avenue was closed as officers investigated. On Monday morning, state police said the suspect vehicle was found and individuals were taken into custody.
Road rage shooting on Detroitโs east side critically injuries 50-year-old man
DETROIT โ Police are investigating a road rage incident on Detroitโs east side Friday that put a 50-year-old man in the hospital with critical injuries. Police said an argument between a 50-year-old man and a 31-year-old man escalated into gunfire being exchanged between the two. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. โ A Michigan man who caused a woman to suffer a traumatic brain injury when he slammed her to the ground after a road-rage incident has been ordered to pay more than $390,000 in medical restitution. Alvarez had earlier pleaded no contest to assault with intent to do great bodily injury less than murder. Samantha Sutherlin, 24, had pulled into a Grand Rapids parking lot in February after some type of road-rage incident involving Alvarez when Alvarez threw her to the ground. The mother said her husband had to quit his job to care for their daughter and her two small children. During the hearing, Alvarez apologized.

Men are more aggressive behind the wheel, AAA says
DETROIT, Mich. โ The American Automobile Association claims it has settled who is more aggressive on the road -- the data shows men are more likely to speed, tailgate, drive dangerously and express road rage. Metro Detroiters agree that road rage isnโt worth the risk, but when it comes down to who is more likely to have road rage -- drivers were divided. Data gathered by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety confirms the perception that men tend to speed, tailgate, merge dangerously, and make rude gestures or honk at other drivers more than women. The data also found that younger drivers were more aggressive than older drivers. Regardless of gender or sex, nearly 80% of American drivers demonstrate aggressive behavior behind the wheel -- with speeding topping the list.
Police wrestle with driver after Oakland County road rage incident gets out of control
TROY, Mich. โ An incident of road rage got way out of hand Monday evening in Oakland County leading to police wrestling with one of the drivers. Police are seeing more road rage incidents with higher intensity including this particular one. Yesterday evening the driver of a Dodge Caliber called 911 to report being chased along I-75 by a Chevy Cruze. It initially started with one man getting out of his car and threatening to shoot the other driver. Even after a Troy squad car cut off the Chevy Cruze, the female driver still tried to get away.

Police investigating potential road rage shooting on Southfield Freeway
DETROIT โ There have been at least 18 shootings on Metro Detroit freeways since June. The driver told police his car was shot multiple times by someone in a Maserati somewhere between McNichols and Eight Mile roads. DETROIT โ A road rage incident sparked a shooting Tuesday in the westbound lanes of I-94 near I-75, according to authorities. The westbound lanes of I-94 were closed for about two hours at I-75 near the Woodward Avenue exit in Downtown Detroit -- a busy spot during rush hour. Michigan State Police officials said a man called police around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to say someone had shot at him on the freeway. Itโs unclear what sparked the road rage, but the man told police multiple shots were fired, according to MSP. Nobody was injured in the shooting, but the manโs car was hit by gunfire, officials said.

Oak Park man charged in road rage incident involving gunfire
OAK PARK An Oak Park man has been charged in connection with a road rage incident involving gunfire. He was given a $20,000 personal bond and is scheduled to appear in court at 1 p.m. on Aug. 31. According to police, on July 30 at around 5:42 p.m. Ferndale officers responded to the area of eastbound Eight Mile Road near Livernois for a possible shooting. Officers met the complainant in a parking lot near Eight Mile Road and Woodward Avenue. After an investigation Goriel was arrested several hours later by Ferndale police detectives.

DETROIT Its a number police cant remember seeing in the past -- 13 road rage shootings in Metro Detroit over the last three weeks. We havent had this many road rage incidents without firearms, let alone with firearms, we havent seen things like this -- where people are just mad about something, Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said. The freeway shootings are happening, in most cases, because of everyday agitations on the road. A simple lane violation, disrespecting someone, somebody looked at them wrong -- going too fast or too slow, Shaw said. So far, there have been 12 shootings in Wayne County and one in Oakland County.

DETROIT โ A man angry that another driver didnโt let him merge onto Meyers Road in Detroit pulled up alongside that driver and shot him, police said. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at the intersection of Puritan Avenue and James Couzens Freeway, according to authorities. A man in a Silver Mazda Hatchback tried to merge onto Meyers Road on Detroitโs west side in front of a 35-year-old man, officials said. The 35-year-old man didnโt allow the Hatchback to merge, so the driver followed him to Puritan Avenue and James Couzens Freeway, according to police. The 35-year-old man was struck by gunfire, but still managed to drive himself to the 13000 block of Puritan Avenue, police said.
Harper Woods woman charged with waving gun at another driver during road rage incident
TROY, Mich. โ A Harper Woods woman has been charged with waving a gun at another driver during a road rage incident in Oakland County, police said. Troy police were called at 6:11 p.m. Friday to southbound I-75 north of West Big Beaver Road. A driver told them he had been involved in a traffic altercation with the driver of a tan 2015 Kia Optima, officials said. At one point during the exchange, the woman flashed a gun at him out her window, according to authorities. Monea Smith, 30, of Harper Woods, had also contacted police about the altercation, officials said.
