We will drop through the 20s (-4 to -5 degrees Celsius) this morning, and will hover in the upper teens (-8 degrees Celsius) this afternoon. DETROIT โ A lake effect system will bring two days of snow, high winds and lakeshore flooding issues to Northern Michigan. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Friday for several counties including Leelanau, Antrim, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Missaukee. Additionally, Northern, Central and Eastern parts of the Upper Peninsula could see several inches of snow, as well, including Marquette, Alger, Luce and Schoolcraft counties. Ann Arbor Public Schools, offices to close Wednesday due to snow
ANN ARBOR โ Ann Arbor Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday due to a winter storm expected overnight. The snow day announcement was made by Ann Arbor Superintendent Jeanice Kerr Swift on Twitter Tuesday evening, who said the early announcement was intended to help parents make arrangements for Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Ann Arbor Police Department tweeted some safety tips to keep in mind during Wednesdayโs morning commute -- and a tip for parents who will be home with students tomorrow. DETROIT โ A winter weather advisory that was in effect for all of Southeast Michigan as a snowstorm moved through the area has been canceled. The winter weather advisory went into effect 8 p.m. Wednesday and was scheduled to last until 10 a.m. Thursday. Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Monroe, Livingston and Lenawee counties are affected. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued St. Clair, Lapeer, Genesee and Sanilac counties. Southeast Michigan will get 5-8 inches of snow. The heaviest snow is expected between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Saturday before tapering off.
Metro Detroit weather forecast: Dangerous rain, ice storm develops Saturday
Remember, freezing rain is extremely deceiving because itโs liquid water when it falls but turns to solid ice upon impact. 9 a.m. to noon SaturdayAs it becomes colder, freezing rain develops north and west of Detroit. The steadiest, most widespread freezing rain will fall in Livingston, Oakland and Macomb counties northward to the I-69 corridor and the thumb. 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. SaturdayTemperatures hover around the freezing mark around the region, and freezing rain becomes more scattered. On top of that, another wave of freezing rain and rain will race through before midnight.
Up to 7 inches of lake effect snow expected in Northern Lower Michigan
Parts of Northern Lower Michigan will get some decent snow tonight and into Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Western part of Northern Lower Michigan, including Grand Traverse County, down to Ludington, Cadillac and Gaylord. โAn arctic front will bring very cold air into the Great Lakes today into Wednesday. This cold air over the relatively warm waters of the Great Lakes will kick on the lake effect machine once again. The typical northwest flow snow belts should see the most snow through Wednesday.โMost of the impacted area will see 2-3 inches of snow, with an isolated six or more inches.
Metro Detroit weather: Slippery weather arriving after sunset, Saturday
DETROIT โ A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac and St. Clair Counties from 11:00 p.m., Saturday, to 10:00 a.m., Sunday. It remains cloudy the rest of the day, and rain and slippery weather hold off until nightfall. Drier weather returns after the holiday weekend. Rain remains possible with overnight lows in the middle 30s in these places. A wintry mix remains possible north of M-59.

Most of Metro Detroit is in a Winter Weather Advisory for 3-6 of snow creating dangerous travel all day today and it lasts until midnight. Parts of the thumb in our North Zone is under a Winter Storm Warning for 5-10 of snow and blowing snow. Be careful driving today, and be watchful of those other cars out there that may not heed our warnings.
