After several suspicious fires, families were forced from their homes in a Washtenaw County community. Four fires within a week and a half now have state police investigating. Fortunately, nobody has been hurt, but neighbors are concerned a serial arsonist is setting these fires.

Cause of Auburn Hills house fire under investigation
A look at the damage cause by the Auburn Hills based fire that happened Saturday, March 20, 2021. DETROIT – A single story family home in the 100 block of Guanonocque Street in Auburn Hills caught fire Saturday night, according to the city’s fire department. The Auburn Hills Fire Department reported that at around 11:56 p.m. Saturday crews were sent to the area after a fire was reported. The back of the home and an attached covered porch caught fire. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Community remembers father killed trying to save pets from house fire in Clinton Township
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Friends and family came together Tuesday to remember a Clinton Township man who was killed trying to save his pets from a house fire. The fire broke out at about 3 a.m. Saturday at the mobile home on Enchante Drive near Hayes Road. Michelle Brooks described the moments when the fire erupted at the residence she shared with her fiancé Kevin Hodges. Friends and family, including Hodges’ brother and two daughters, gathered outside of the now-destroyed home Tuesday, which would have been his 57th birthday. And I don’t know if he realized how many people cared for him,” said his daughter Hayley Hodges.
Missing puppy found alive in burned Macomb County apartment complex 2 weeks after fire
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – On Feb. 13, a massive fire destroyed the River North Village Apartment complex in Mount Clemens. Dino Rasera lost everything he owned in the fire. It wasn’t the material possessions he was worried about, it was his 1-year-old chihuahua puppy Marble -- who was nowhere to be found. 1 killed, 2 injured in Sterling Heights house fire
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – One person died and two were injured in a house fire that happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of Haff Drive in Sterling Heights. 2 killed in Detroit house fire believed to be caused by space heaters
DETROIT – Fire crews believe space heaters were the cause of a fatal house fire Saturday morning in Detroit. According to authorities, the bodies of two men were found in a bedroom in a home on Lauder Street, near the intersection of Hubbell and Fenkell avenues. The Detroit Fire Department said several space heaters were found in the home and they believe the propane and kerosene heaters were being misused. Fire on Detroit’s east side kills 1, injures 4
DETROIT – A fire at a group home on Detroit’s east side killed one man and injured four others Friday morning. It happened on Burns Avenue, near I-94 and Van Dyke Avenue. The group home was significantly damaged and the building might be a total loss. The other four men were rushed to a hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Homeowner, dog killed in Dearborn Heights house fire
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – A 57-year-old man and his dog were killed in a house fire on Friday in Dearborn Heights. They pulled him out and realized that he was deceased,” said Dearborn Heights Fire Chief Dave Brogan. Sadly, Wolfe’s doberman named Kaiser was also found inside the house. Fire at apartment on Detroit’s east side hospitalizes multiple senior citizens
DETROIT – Eight senior citizens were sent to the hospital, three in critical condition due to a fire Sunday at the 16-story Parkview Place Apartment building. It was about 7 p.m. at Jefferson Meadows Apartments, where Jahmeel Williams, 19, and his 21-year-old brother Malik were taking care of their grandmother Rita Williams. “I smelled something burning like fire,” said Jahmeel Williams. Gibraltar family loses everything in house fire before Christmas

Now the family has lost everything with the exception of the clothes on their backs. Thieves target family’s home after fire in Grosse Pointe Woods
GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. – Days after a family survived a fire at their Grosse Pointe Woods home, authorities said thieves had stolen items from the property. Ferguson said the family’s safe was stolen with their passports, cash and jewelry inside. Bruce Ferguson’s wife went to the kitchen and smelled smoke. While damaged windows were boarded up, police told them thieves got in through a locked window. The thieves even made their way to the basement where they discovered Bruce Ferguson’s gun collection in a locked room.
Mother sentenced to probation for 2018 Eastpointe fire that killed 3 children
EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A woman charged in connection with a 2018 fire that killed three children in Eastpointe was sentenced to probation. Amber Swain said she was running late for work back in March 2018 when the fire happened. Three children -- two boys and a girl -- were killed and two able to get out. For the first time in two years, Swain, the mother of the two boys, spoke about the fire that killed her two sons in the home on Juliana Avenue.
