Booksweet, 1729 Plymouth Road, is hosting two events on Sunday, Oct. 9, including a Anishinaabe story time for children and a garden design program for teens and adults. Indigenous Peoples Day is recognized on the second Monday of October. The story time event, beginning at 2 p.m., also features a creative activity, Anishinaabe snacks and a visit from Nimkii. Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the Ford Bronco and its driver. Police said the Ford Bronco, which was described as “newer” looking, should have damage along the driver’s side as a result of the crash.

ANN ARBOR TWP., MI - A car smashed into an Ann Arbor area stop sign early Sunday morning, killing a female passenger from Westland, officials said. Firefighters responded around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, to the 4200 block of Plymouth Road near Earhart Road in Ann Arbor Township. The incident happened near the entrance to the University of Michigan’s East Medical campus. A male driver was headed east on Plymouth Road prior to the sign being hit, officials from the Ann Arbor Township Fire Department said. The 33-year-old female passenger died at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after Huron Valley Ambulance transported her from the scene.

Northwest-bound traffic will use Maiden Lane to access Broadway Street, Plymouth Road or Moore Street. Eastbound traffic on West William Street will be detoured to South Main Street, Packard Street, South Fourth Avenue and onto East William Street. Police pursuit ends in crash on Detroit’s west side
DETROIT – A police pursuit ended in a crash Sunday night on Detroit’s west side. Police said it started when Redford police spotted a carjacking suspect out of Livonia. Michigan State Police joined the pursuit that ended when police said the suspect crashed into a Jeep near the intersection of Plymouth Road and Marlowe Street. According to authorities, the Jeep was transporting a mother and child, who were rushed to the hospital. Police said they are expected to be OK and the suspect was taken into custody.

Construction projects to impact Ann Arbor traffic this week
Three new road construction projects will impact traffic downtown and on the east side of Ann Arbor starting Monday. The contractor will maintain westbound Glazier Way traffic. The contractor will maintain southbound Green Road traffic. Vehicles traveling westbound on Liberty Street will be detoured south on Main Street, west on William Street, then north on Second Street back to Liberty Street.
Man arrested after 6-year-old girl killed in Detroit crash
DETROIT – Police said a 43-year-old man driving a pickup at a high rate of speed disregarded a red light and collided with a Dodge Caravan that was carrying multiple passengers. A 17-year-old man was driving the Dodge Caravan southbound on the Southfield Freeway Service Drive with three passengers: A 46-year-old woman, 13-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. All of the passengers in the Dodge Caravan were transported by medics to a local hospital. Shot fired during police chase on Detroits west side
DETROIT Detroit police are investigating an incident involving gunfire that happened Friday afternoon in the area of Plymouth Road and Wyoming Avenue. Police say a shot was fired around 3 p.m. as officers tried stopping a man. Police say as the man ran from police he pulled out a gun. When officers heard the gun go off they grabbed the man and arrested him. According to police, although the gun went off, the man was not intentionally trying to target officers.

Woman killed in altercation on Plymouth Road in Detroit
DETROIT – A 58-year-old woman died Saturday night amid an altercation that turned physical on Detroit’s west side. A preliminary investigation by Detroit police indicated that the victim accompanied a 55-year-old man, who was involved in a verbal altercation with another man in the 14600 block of Plymouth Road. Police said the second man allegedly entered his vehicle and struck the 55-year-old man’s Ford Taurus. The 58-year-old woman was standing behind the Taurus at the time and was struck by the vehicle. 2 charged after striking, killing 48-year-old driver while fleeing Detroit police
DETROIT Two people have been charged following the death of a 48-year-old man who was killed in a car crash on Friday. The man was struck by a 19-year-old driver who was fleeing Detroit police. Officers identified the suspects vehicle traveling south on West Outer Drive near Plymouth Road. The 48-year-old man driving the Honda Odyssey was transported to the hospital following the crash, where he was pronounced dead. On Monday Stringer was charged with second-degree murder, first- and second-degree fleeing and eluding, reckless driving causing death and reckless driving causing serious impairment of bodily function.

At the time, it was broadcast to other officers that the suspect was driving a white Chrysler 300. The 48-year-old man was transported to a local hospital where he was pounced dead. The woman, who is 19 years old, driving the Chrysler 300 was taken into custody. A 21-year-old man was in the back seat of the Chrysler 300 and he was also taken into custody. Two other occupants, a 15-year-old girl and a 33-year-old man, are also being treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

DETROIT A 27-year-old man was shot by a Detroit police officer on the citys west side on Sunday night. Detroit Police Chief James Craig says the investigation is young, but was able to provide some details during a news conference Monday afternoon. According to Craig, police assigned to the area noticed the man carrying a concealed weapon outside of a green light gas station around 11 p.m. in the area of Plymouth Road and Wyoming Avenue. One officer fired between five and six rounds of his weapon at the suspect, officials said. Officials say the man continued to run after he was struck.
