Police believe a shooting and carjacking by masked men Monday in Southfield might be related to a violent Dearborn attack in which a resident was held at gunpoint while armed robbers assaulted his fiance, officials said.

The Dearborn Police Department says that on Friday, October 22, 2021, Bettul Al-Aufi, 14, walked out of Edsel Ford High School before lunch. She was last seen wearing a red hoodie, black Tommy Hilfiger undershirt, and black leggings. We have a list of questions that left unanswered are problematic:Who will oversee the authorization and qualification of individuals who have access to video surveillance footage and how will those individuals be trained and monitored? Will there be data mining of information by Dearborn PD of recorded images for any purpose whatsoever, including sharing with other law enforcement entities? It is inconclusive as to whether surveillance cameras in schools deter violent crimes such as school shootings, the purported reason Dearborn agreed to live surveillance of school children.

DEARBORN, MI -- A man was listed in temporary-serious condition after being shot outside the Fairlane Town Center mall Monday night when an attempted robbery took place. According to Dearborn Police, the man was leaving the mall when the suspect attempted to rob him of his personal belongings. At some point during the confrontation, the suspect shot the victim twice before fleeing the scene. According to WDIV Detroit, the victim returned to the mall food court after being shot to ask for help, while the suspect fled in a red Dodge Charger. “The Dearborn Police Department will aggressively investigate this brazen crime and utilize all available resources to bring those responsible to justice,” Haddad said.

Photo: FlickrDEARBORN At approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dearborn Police responded to a call about a man down at the train tracks south of Michigan Ave. between Mason and Monroe. Dearborn Police and Fire personnel found an Amtrak passenger train stopped on the tracks and a 52-year-old Dearborn resident injured on the ground. First responders reportedly tried to render aid to the injured man but he died at the scene. Police say that preliminary investigations show the man was a pedestrian and not a passenger on the train.
