MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Monroe County deputy and a member of the Monroe Township Fire Department were both hospitalized Friday morning after their vehicles collided while responding to the same emergency. Authorities say that at about 7:48 a.m. Friday, the Monroe County sheriff deputy was traveling westbound on Dunbar Road while responding to an emergency call. Officials say the truck was driven by a member of the Monroe Township Fire Department, who was actually responding to the same emergency as the deputy. Toledo woman crashes through traffic barrier, plummets 24 feet into Monroe County water outlet
WHITEFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Toledo woman is seriously injured after she crashed her car through a traffic barrier and plummeted 24 feet into a Monroe County water outlet, deputies said. Officials said the 33-year-old woman was driving a blue Chevrolet Impala around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday (March 2) on northbound US 23. At some point when she was north of Sterns Road in Whiteford Township, the woman drove off the roadway to the west and into the median, police said. The Impala continued north and crashed into a traffic barrier over the Ottawa Lake Outlet, according to authorities. The car went through the barrier and plummeted 24 feet into the water outlet, deputies said.

Man, 33, dies in Whiteford Township car crash after driving backwards on US-23
WHITEFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 33-year-old Ypsilanti man died due to a vehicle crash on US-23 Thursday evening. According to authorities, at about 6:50 p.m. Thursday, the Ypsilanti man was driving a black 2008 Hyundai Tiburon northbound on US-23 in Whiteford Township when he pulled over onto the right shoulder for unknown reasons. Shortly after, the man reportedly began traveling in reverse on the shoulder and as he reentered the freeway, driving backwards in the far right lane. As the Ypsilanti man reentered the freeway, his Hyundai was struck by a 52-year-old Adrian man driving a Ford Expedition who was unable to stop while traveling northbound on US-23. The 33-year-old man driving the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted homicide that occurred Tuesday night in Bedford Township. According to authorities, the incident happened at about 10 p.m. at the Bedford Inn Motel on Telegraph Road. Police said the investigation revealed both victims were assaulted at the Bedford Inn Motel the night prior. A search warrant was authored and served by detectives on a motel room at the Bedford Inn Motel, where evidence of an aggravated assault took place. Woman arrested, charged with murder in connection with Monroe County Animal Control officer killed in crash
MONROE, Mich. – A 47-year-old woman from Hudson was arrested Friday in connection with the death of Monroe County Animal Control officer Darrian Young. Michele Anne Dropulich was arraigned Saturday on charges of second degree murder and operating while intoxicated causing death and reckless driving causing death. Police believe Dropulich was speeding when she ran a red light at the intersection of Raisinville and South Custer roads on June 4, striking Young’s vehicle, killing her. Police said lab results revealed Dropulich was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Dropulich is being held at the Monroe County Jail.

Ohio woman arrested after Monroe County car crash kills 1, injures 3
The 31-year-old driver of the GMC, a man also from Toledo, Ohio, was reportedly waiting for assistance and had his hazard lights on when his vehicle was struck. Following the crash, the front seat passenger of the Honda Civic -- a 36-year-old woman from Toledo, Ohio -- was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. A third passenger of the Honda Civic -- a 41-year-old woman from Toledo, Ohio -- was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition. The woman was not wearing a seat belt during the crash, officials said. The 23-year-old driver of the Honda Civic was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail.

Drunken driver killed in crash with utility pole in Bedford Township, police say
BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Toledo man who was driving drunk and speeding Friday died when his car left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole in Bedford Township, according to police. Officials said David C. Smith, 39, of Toledo, was driving a black 2002 GMC Envoy at 1:08 a.m. Friday on Dean Road east of Crabb Road. Smith was heading east and drove off the north side of Dean Road, striking a mailbox, police said. He got back on the road and continued east before leaving the roadway again, according to authorities. Monroe County medics and Bedford Township firefighters responded, but Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Vehicle crashes near DTE power plant in Monroe, found submerged in reservoir
MONROE, Mich. A vehicle was found submerged in a reservoir near the DTE power plant in Monroe Tuesday night after a traffic crash, Monroe Police Deparment officials said. Police responded to the crash at about 8:15 p.m. and indicated that the vehicle left the roadway and struck a fence on East Front Street before going into the water. When police arrived at the scene, the vehicle was completely submerged and not visible to investigators. Police believe the driver was inside at the vehicle submerged, and the Monroe County Sheriffs Office Dive Team was called to assist in recovery. As of 3 a.m. Wednesday, police were in the process of recovering the vehicle.

Inkster teen drowns at Milan Beach in Monroe County, police report
MILAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. A 17-year-old boy accidentally drowned at Milan Beach on Saturday afternoon, police said. At around 5:48 p.m. the Monroe County Sheriffs Office responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a boy was missing and had presumably drowned, officials said. Upon arrival the family of the teen, identified as Jorge Delgadillo-Flores of Inkster, told police that he had been struggling to swim before he went under water and they hadnt seen him since. Police are still looking for the driver who struck Youngs vehicle June 4. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The vehicle is described as a black 2014 Dodge Caravan with no license plate. At some point before the crash, the Dodge Caravan was damaged from the front end.

MONROE, Mich. The Monroe County Sheriffs Office is investigating a traffic crash involving a Monroe County Sheriffs Animal Control Division vehicle from their department that occurred in Monroe on Thursday. Officials say a 44-year-old woman was driving westbound on M-50 and disregarded a red light at the intersection of Raisinville and South Custer roads, striking the county sheriffs vehicle that was traveling south on Rasinville Road. The driver of the county sheriffs vehicle was transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition. Officials say the woman driver, from Hudson, Michigan, sustained serious injuries and was also taken to the hospital. The woman is believed to have been involved in a previous hit-and-run incident in Monroe, officials said.

LASALLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. Police discovered human skeletal remains over the weekend in a Monroe County drainage ditch, officials said. The discovery was made around 12:50 p.m. Sunday in an open field on the south side of West Stein Road, west of Strasburg Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone. Deputies were called to the field when a worker performing maintenance found unknown human skeletal remains, according to authorities. The remains were taken from the drainage ditch and turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiners Office in Detroit for an autopsy and identification. RAISINVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police are investigating after a body was found Sunday night in River Raisin. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office released updated details on Monday:On Sunday, August 18th 2019 Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office were dispatched tothe 3300 block of S. Custer Rd in regards a group of kayakers finding the body of a deceased malesubject along the bank of the river. The body was later identified as being 66 year old, David Michael Tedora of Monroe, Michigan. ERIE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police are looking for a missing boater on Lake Erie. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, authorities were dispatched Saturday night to the Lost Peninsula Marina to assist the Morin Point Fire Department in searching for a man who had fallen out of a boat near Woodtick Peninsula. Police said the man was a passenger in a 16-foot aluminum boat that struck the wake of another boat, knocking him overboard.
