This restaurant is spreading the joy of food in Detroit
This Takeout Tuesday knows how to make a spread of food you’ll love because it’s in the name. Jason Carr chatted with Radar Perkaj, the co-owner of Spread Detroit about their sandwiches and new business hours. Spread Detroit is a sandwich shop that has unique names for its tasty lunch items. You could try a “Nuna Tuna” sandwich, a “Big Al” or an “Old Kanye” that Perkaj joked is better than the new Kanye. Spread Detroit is also spreading into new business hours and menu items with their new brunch and after-dark menu.
This Takeout Tuesday can feed your whole neighborhood
Whisky Jack’s BBQ is a husband and wife team that loves to cook and bring lots of BBQ to the metro Detroit area in their food truck. The food truck has been open since 2015. The food truck is known for its baby back ribs, tasty chicken, and smoky pulled pork. You can usually find the Food Truck in Monroe on 1837 North Monroe St. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bring in the Chinese New Year with some authentic cuisine from this Novi restaurant
Novi – From fried rice to fresh lettuce wraps, China Cafe will give you an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine. The owners, Kelly and Susana Chang, have infused their unique history into the food as well, making China Cafe a family favorite. In 1997, they opened China Cafe on Novi Road in the Pine Ridge Shopping Center. If you want to try out the China Cafe, or Jai Lounge, they are located at 24299 Novi Road in Novi. Clawson – Today is National Southern Food Day so we thought we’d celebrate with some tender, slow-cooked BBQ! Just the memory of their juicy texas style brisket is enough to make our mouth water. Today for Dine in the D we went to Clawson to pick up some BBQ from Woodpile BBQ Shack! Another owner, Zac Idzikowski, noticed the old A&W was for sale in Clawson and he wanted to open up a BBQ joint. Their BBQ is pinned down to one region’s style, instead, Zac wanted to emulate his favorite items from across the south.

This Church has been transformed into a café
Detroit – For over 100 years people have been meeting at this old church in the Atkinson Avenue neighborhood of Detroit, but now people are gathering for a new reason, delicious food and drinks! In March of this year, the church opened its doors again, as The Congregation, a café. One of the major features you see in the space is a large organ. You will also spot beautifully restored stained glass around the building, as well as old pews, and other church furniture. Out front their sign says “Café, Coffee, Cocktails, and Community” and that is exactly what they offer.
This Clarkston restaurant has some BIG specials
While this Clarkston restaurant is fairly new to the scene, opening its doors in May of 2019, the owner, Lindon Palushaj, is no stranger to running a restaurant. This latest addition actually has a sister restaurant called 24th Street Tavern. To go with their large restaurant are some large portions of food! They love to have specials that catch people’s attention online since it brings people into their restaurant. Plymouth – It’s Take-Out Tuesday when we feature restaurants that also offer to-go or curbside pick-up to help support traditionally dine-in restaurants during the pandemic. Today we dropped by a restaurant whose mascot is almost as big of an attraction as the food. Stella’s Black Dog Tavern in Downtown Plymouth is a popular place. Stella’s Black Dog Tavern offers a variety of tavern-style food as well as some upscale dishes. Southgate – We hope you have a monster of an appetite because you will need it if you’re getting takeout from Mallie’s Grill and Bar in Southgate. While the burger is enough to feed the family and then some, it is not the largest one they ever made. They hold the Guinness Book World Record for the largest burger with a 1,800-pound burger. Rochester – Whether you try their delicious, homemade, seafood linguine, or there perfectly crispy grilled chicken pizza you will have no doubts that they know what they are doing here at D’Marcos Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar. Mark Mendola’s family has been in the restaurant industry for almost 100 years, opening their first restaurant in Pennsylvania in the 1930s. Mark grew up in the Rochester area and wanted to open up a restaurant in downtown Rochester. After lots of renovations, in 2018, he opened D’Marcos Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar, a nod to his mother who always called him Marco growing up. Since October is National Pizza Month, and National Pasta Month, we are checking out a mom and pop restaurant that is serving up great pizzas and more for dine-in or curbside delivery. The Alibi restaurant in Troy is family-owned, and Cindy Maier, one of the owners, joined host Tati Amare to discuss what they have to offer. Pizza is their most popular menu item, and it is no wonder, with them hand-tossing the dough and making everything from scratch. Halloween is one of their biggest carry-out days of the year and Maier predicts they will send out over 1,000 pizzas. At Supernatural Brewing and Spirits, you could say the food and drink are out of this world. A group of friends created this brewpub to be a place they wanted to hang out. Once they found a building at the intersection of Plymouth and Ann Arbor Roads in Livonia, they seized the opportunity and created Supernatural Brewing and Spirits. They were tossing around names that fit the logo, and when someone said Supernatural, they knew they found their name. The team at Marrow are longtime professionals in the food industry and wanted to create their dream spot to work. Get a royally good burger for takeout at this Midtown restaurant
They are a favorite to grill up at home, eat at a restaurant, or grab for takeout. Chef and Co-owner Hass Bazzy joined Tati Amare live from his Midtown restaurant for today’s Take Out Tuesday. He believes his restaurant is different from other burger spots in town because they use really unique and feature fresh ingredients. This applies to all of their food, like their new grouper tacos which are made with fresh grouper from Florida. It is a rule Bazzy implores all customers to follow, as it helps everyone including the restaurant.

Here in the D, there are many Hispanic cultures that make up our city’s melting pot. For today’s “Take-Out Tuesday”, Jason Carr spoke to Betty Shuell, co-owner of Culantro in Ferndale. The restaurant is known for their signature and authentic Peruvian dishes. Culantro brought the authentic flavors of Peru over to Ferndale two years ago and has been in the area ever since. It is then cooked in their special oven which they brought from Peru.

Grosse Pointe Park – Here at Atwater in the Park, the beer is flowing, and the schnitzel is fresh and ready to eat. Atwater continued to grow, and about 7 years ago they took over a church in Grosse Pointe Park, and remade it into a brewpub, calling it Atwater in the Park. Atwater in the Park is located at 1175 Lakepointe Street in Grosse Pointe Park. They are hosting a socially-distant Oktoberfest in their biergarten on October 3rd from noon to midnight.
