Armed man holding children hostage surrenders to Detroit police
DETROIT โ Police said a man who was holding two children hostage inside a home on Detroitโs west side surrendered Sunday. Authorities blocked off the surrounding area while hostage negotiation and special response teams tried talking the man out of the home. Police said a handgun was recovered and the man was taken into custody. Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilegi said the children didnโt know the extent of the danger they were in. 2 women injured in shooting on Greenfield Road, police say
DETROIT โ Detroit police are investigating a shooting Monday evening in the 18000 block of Greenfield Road that resulted in two women, ages 24 and 30, being injured. Police said as the driver pulled into a driveway of an unknown residence, multiple shots were fired from the Equinox toward the Fusion, striking the 24-year-old woman. A 30-year-old woman, who was driving south on Greenfield, was also struck. Police said the 24-year-old woman was listed in serious condition, and the 30-year-old woman was listed in temporary serious condition. The 24-year-old suspect is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds with a short afro and dark-colored eyes.

DETROIT โ Traffic on Interstate 96 was shut down for hours Tuesday afternoon as Michigan State Police tried to piece together a shooting on the freeway near Greenfield Road. A jeep that was struck in the shooting received damage to its back window, driverโs side window and door and one of the tires. Sources said the man driving the jeep told police he was shot at while driving on the Southfield Freeway north of Joy Road, which lead police to shut down the lanes Tuesday night and start walking the freeway looking for shell casings. Police sources said after the man was shot at, he pulled over near I-96 and Greenfield and called a family member to come and get him. It is unknown what led to the shooting.
