DETROIT – A man has been charged with first-degree murder after two sisters were killed when a fight turned into a shooting on Detroit’s east side, police said. Shaniya Todd, 21, and Shakiya Todd, 18, were checking on a woman Dec. 18 inside a house on Lantz Street near John R Street, according to authorities. Police said they got into a fight with D’Andre Smith, 18, who they believe is related to the woman living at the house. The fight turned into a shooting, and the sisters were killed, officials said. Smith turned himself in to police and was arraigned Dec. 23 at 36th District Court, police said.

DETROIT – Police arrested a man and a woman in Westland after a 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Detroit, according to officials. Immediately afterward, a shot was fired into the home and the 16-year-old girl was fatally injured, according to authorities. Medical officials took the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Children injured when vehicle traveling more than 80 mph slams into SUV on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – Two children were injured Tuesday afternoon when the vehicle they were in slammed into another vehicle in Detroit. An SUV was pulling onto E. Warren Avenue from Algonquin Street when it was hit by a black Cadillac Escalade that was traveling more than 80 mph, officials said. The children were in the Escalade, which ran into a tree after striking the SUV. A woman who witnessed the crash described seeing the Escalade speeding before smashing into the other vehicle. All four people who were in the Escalade, including the two young children, were taken to a hospital.
