Detroit police SUV hit by suspected drunk driver at crash scene
DETROIT – A Detroit police SUV was hit by a suspected drunk driver overnight in the area of Cadieux Road and Marne Street on the city’s east side. Officers were on the scene of a crash when a second car hit the police SUV. The officers were inside the SUV, though they were not injured. The suspected drunk driver was taken into custody.

A 41-year-old man and a 43-year-old man got into an argument and fired shots at each other, Detroit police said. DETROIT – A large fire destroyed an important part of a Detroit neighborhood. Harper Food Center, located near the intersection of Harper Avenue and Newport Street, was completely destroyed in a fire Saturday night. Large flames and heavy smoke poured out of the only full-service grocery store in the community. Detroit police seek man wanted for stabbing woman at laundromat
The man wanted by Detroit police for the stabbing that took place on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021. DETROIT – Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a stabbing that took place on Detroit’s east side. The man took the woman’s purse and also fled the scene. The stabber is described as a Black man with a medium complexion and cleanly shaved. He was last seen wearing a black skull cap, black coat with a hood, and black sweater with the word Detroit on the front.
Man charged with murdering 2 sisters when fight turned into shooting on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – A man has been charged with first-degree murder after two sisters were killed when a fight turned into a shooting on Detroit’s east side, police said. Shaniya Todd, 21, and Shakiya Todd, 18, were checking on a woman Dec. 18 inside a house on Lantz Street near John R Street, according to authorities. Police said they got into a fight with D’Andre Smith, 18, who they believe is related to the woman living at the house. The fight turned into a shooting, and the sisters were killed, officials said. Smith turned himself in to police and was arraigned Dec. 23 at 36th District Court, police said.
Couple robbed, assaulted outside dollar store on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – For the second time this week, Detroit police are investigating a robbery and assault at a dollar store on Detroit’s east side. On Monday, an armed man robbed a Dollar Tree and sexually assaulted two female employees. The incident happened at a store on Van Dyke Avenue and 8 Mile Road, according to Detroit police. On Tuesday around 7 p.m., a couple was robbed outside a Dollar General on Van Dyke, just a block away from the Dollar Tree near 8 Mile Road. When the wife walked out of the store, the suspect pointed a gun at her and told her to go back inside the store.
Police arrest man, woman in Westland after teenage girl killed on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – Police arrested a man and a woman in Westland after a 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Detroit, according to officials. Detroit police said the teenager got into an argument with a 22-year-old man around 8:25 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 9100 block of Beaconsfield Street on Detroit’s east side. Immediately afterward, a shot was fired into the home and the 16-year-old girl was fatally injured, according to authorities. Medical officials took the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Officials said the 22-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested around 11 a.m. Monday at a home in the 33000 block of Alberta Avenue in Westland.
