You may not be the only one dreaming up your next big vacation after COVID. Industry insiders say there will be a huge boom in spending for vacations, in a trend they call โrevenge travel.โ Tati called on friends of the show Lauren Crocker, Jason Hall, and AJ Williams to find out what their next big travel plans will be.
Whatโs your spring Cleaning routine?
It looks like the snow might be gone for good, which means itโs time to start thinking about spring cleaning. Often the biggest question about spring cleaning is where to start. For Crocker, cleaning out the closet is the best place to start, since clearing out space means sheโll get to revamp her wardrobe for the season. Cleaning out space in the spring also means making room for new tech. Hall said that for him the change in season means a new bike and new stuff for the car.
Daylight Saving is here: what could you give up for an hour?
Daylight Saving Time is upon us, which means we all lost an hour over the weekend. First, Jason asked if anyone would be able to give up their phone for an hour a day. AdSince most folks have been watching more during quarantine, would anyone be able to give up watching TV or streaming? Finally, Jason asked if anyone would be able to lose an hour of sleep each night. While Cohen said she didnโt notice the missing hour, the other guests were completely opposite.
Celebrate International Womenโs Day with women who inspire
First, Mimi talked about her inspiration, Maya Angelou. โI always think about her when I think about powerful women in history.โNext, everyone talked about their favorite women in film. Jason and Mimi both talked about Cicely Tyson, who stayed true to herself by only taking roles in films that highlighted African American women. AdFinally, Tati asked about the women in the music industry that inspire everyone. Mimi picked Aretha Franklin, an icon whoโs music transcends audiences, and who has performed at multiple presidential inaugurations.
Why do you watch award shows?
AdFinally, do you watch the award shows? Hearn says she turns on the award shows to see the fashion. Now Russell, as a movie reviewer, Greg does follow the award shows and says sometimes they get it right, and other times not so much. He noted that often, whatever gets named in the first award show often gets mentions in all the following award shows, and that is not always for the best. So why do you watch award shows?
Get your snack on for national snack food month
February is National snack food month and we invited some friends of Live In The D to get on the show to chat about everyoneโs snack habits. Joining host Tati was AJ Williams, managing editor of the Michigan Chronicle, Blaine Fowler, host of Blaine Fowler Morning Show, and Vanessa Cohen, co-founder of Cohen brand. First, Tati wanted to know everyoneโs take on whatโs better: sweet or salty snacks? While only Blaine said he really loves sweet snacks, everyone agreed that salty snacks like chips and popcorn are the way to go. AJ recommended pork rinds, which she said she switched to since itโs a great crunchy, salty snack, and it is full of protein but doesnโt have the carbs that chips have.

Valentineโs Day is this Sunday and, as with everything else in life, the pandemic may be changing the day of love for couples and those who are single. Host Jason Carr chatted with Comedian Mike Bronner, AJ Williams, The Managing Editor of the Michigan Chronicle and woman behind SingleBlackChick.com, and Kerry Doman, the founder of the website Little Guide Detroit, about celebrating the holiday in 2021, finding love, and keeping romance alive. What are your big game plans?
Thereโs no denying this year is going to be a different big game experience than ever before. Everyone has big opinions on the best food to serve at game day parties. Every year the big game reignites the same old argument- should boneless wings be considered wings? This year of course there are concerns about game day parties being a super-spreader event, so will you be inviting anyone over? Tomorrow is National Spouses Day. In celebration we gathered a group of Live In The D friends to talk about the joys, and challenges of life with their spouse. Jason Carr sat down with Mary Liz Curtin, owner of Leon Lulu and Three Cats Restaurant in Clawson, Vanessa Cohen, co-owner of the Cohen Brand, and Movie Reviewer Greg Russell. Between all three of them, they have more than 50 years of life experience being married to their spouse. The group talked about everything from whether opposites attract, to strategies to reconciling marital disagreements, to what it takes to have a long successful relationship with your spouse.
What does Martin Luther King Jr. Day mean to you?
Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is also known as a Day of Service where people go out and do something positive in their communities. We asked our Whatโs the Buzz crew what this day means to them and what they do to celebrate it. Mike said Kingโs ability to forgive and move forward with his mission on a strict non-violent method was amazing. Next Tati asked them how they plan to observe the day.
New year, new hobby?
So why not try a new hobby? First off, do you have a hobby? For Greg Russell, his hobby is collecting autographs and, as someone who interviews celebrities for a living, he has collected many over the years. Jason Hallโs obvious hobby is the e-bike, but what you might not know is that he collects sneakers. Is there a hobby that you had, but later gave up?
